Hunt Club Insurance - Which One to Choose ?

by Stanley Thomas Freelance Blogger and Writer

Hunting is a past time since old days when everybody’s forefathers’ hunted and it is a traditional sport too. It is still enjoyed as a game - it still evokes thrills, sweat and shrill heart beats. But as time has gone by the environment in which such a game is played has become more and more complex.

People choose not to make things complicated around them but due to ease in the filing of lawsuits, sociological implications of keeping, carrying and using arms and increased liability due to political pressure it has become a difficult sport to play. Many people will fight to keep the right to bear arms. But there will be sociological implications in every society breached.

The hunter will be aided, however, by Hunt Club Insurance companies. Whenever he, as a hunter steps into a club, association, organization, target range, private club, outfitters and fishing guides etc. he will be protected. Whether he is a member of the club he has entered, a guest at that club or as an owner of that club - in all these cases he will be protected by Hunt Club Insurance.

There are several associations offering insurance programs to it’s members, but the advice is mainly on the policy’s programming. Many policies are sub-plans of another program, shared programs with other associations or combined with the larger mix of insured members. A good place to explore Hunt Club Insurances is at Hunt Lease Association of America.

Points to note when exploring Hunt Club Insurance options are -

 1. Liability limits are shared with mass members of the organisation only. In certain cases, a fellow shared organisation may use up the liability available this organisation, rendering you without any protection for that same period.

2. Whenever the insurance company is approached ask for -

a. The name of the company

b. It’s AM Best rating (which should be An or better)

c. A complete sample of the policy and wording

d. and suggest this to your legal council for review

3. The section to most comprehensively review is “ conditions and exclusions “ section of the policy - This is the section to understand to know what is to happen for a claim to be covered and what is excluded from the program.

4. It is very important to understand which are the areas where you have been rendered exposed to risks and communicate these risks at the time of shopping for coverage.

5. Also, it is a good idea to ask the organization’s legal or another professional council to address all of the concerns and doubts in writings before finalizing the deal and entering into an insurance contract so that nothing remains hanging in the air.

Once all the above points have been cleared ensure the organization has taken all standard precautionary steps before entering into a Hunt Club Insurance. The organization is then ready to approach as a Hunt Club for renewal of its Insurance. The organization will be able to make a more informed decision due to these steps and enjoy a better and safer environment for hunting pleasures.
