How to write a thesis

by Paper Success Best Dissertation Writing and Essay Writing

When you are nearing the end of your degree, you are required to submit a thesis as a necessary part of your studies. It is important to your schooling and will most probably account for a significant portion of your grading. If you submit a poorly written dissertation it can actually cost you your degree.

The knowledge that your work will be reviewed by a proficient committee can make you stress out no matter how level headed a person you are. However, if you plan your work well and put in a lot of hard work, it can be good enough to impress the entire committee.

A thesis has a number of different parts which are as follows:

Title Page: The title page bears information such as your name, the name of your institution, and department.

Abstract: The abstract explains the importance of your thesis writing in a concise way.

Table of Contents: List of all headings and subheadings with page numbers.

List of Figures: List of all figures in your work with the corresponding page number.

List of Tables: List of all tables in your work with a page number.

Introduction: The introduction can be written in the end because it is easier to write a good introduction once you know everything that is covered in your work.

Methods: This section includes all the calculations and other information based on which the readers will be able to find your results believable.

Results: The results are a statement of your findings and observations. Include tables and graphs to back up your findings.

Discussion: The discussion is written in the form of an essay and contains a comparison of trends, past works and other such methods.

Conclusions: Formulate the most compelling and strongest statement from your observations.

Recommendations: Fill in any possible gaps by including further research resources.

Acknowledgments: In this section, include the name(s) of anyone who helped you, for example an advisor.

References: If you have included other people’s work, here is where you give them credit.

Appendices: Those reviewing your work can get quick references from this section.

Critical analysis is the key to writing your thesis. You will be graded on your ability to answer specific questions or hypothesis by gathering evidence and then summing it up as an interpretation or judgement. You are to clearly discuss the results and cite any relevant sources that you use.

Estimating the time it will take to complete your work is perhaps the biggest mistake that some make when making preparations to write. It is best to start early and give yourself ample time to write. Remember that your thesis is the last obstacle between you and your degree, so you need to make sure that you have put in enough thought, done enough planning and written it in the best possible manner.
