What is Means To Void a Check?

To void a check means to remove the specific entry from the statement of records. However, some accountants delete the check. Deleting a check and voiding a check are both different terms in the accounting world. Deleting a check will result in the permanent deletion of every detail of that particular customer. On the other hand, voiding a check will only remove the specific entry. It will not affect the existing details of the customer.

How To Void a Check-in QuickBooks Online?

The process to void a check in QuickBooks Online is not a complicated one. Following are the steps to void a check in QuickBooks Online:

  • From the left menu bar, click on the ‘Accounting’ tab.

  • On the top of your screen, choose the ‘Charts of Accounts’ option.

  • After that, you have to select the bank account from which the check was issued originally.

  • Click on the ‘View Register’ option.

  • Search for the check that you need to void.

  • Tap on the check-in order to highlight it.

  • Select the ‘Edit’ option.

  • At the bottom, you have to choose the ‘More’ option.

  • After that, choose the ‘Void’ tab.

  • A confirmation message will pop-up on your desktop screen asking you to confirm your action.

  • Click on the ‘Yes’ option.

Making your Reconciliation Precise

If you cancel an already reconciled check, you will need to reverse the reconciliation and reconcile the transaction again, choosing the right transaction for your consolidation this time. Remember, you can not void a check that is already reconciled.

However, unless they are marked as reconciled, voided checks will keep showing up on your bank reconciliation screen. This could render your reconciliation screen cramped if you have a lot of voided checks which could potentially lead to errors.

While deleting a check on your financial reports achieves the same thing as voiding one, deleting checks also sacrifices your data collection and opens the door for possible errors. Deleting checks also makes the identification of fraud on your account more complicated for you. If a false entry was made by mistake, the only time a search could be discarded is.

In Conclusion:

To void a check in QuickBooks Online has a very simple process. QuickBooks users can void a check with the above-mentioned process. But, if any user faces any trouble voiding a check, they can seek guidance from QuickBooks Online Support on this number: +1- 860- 544- 6044.
