The very first thing you should do is do some research into how much your type
of boat goes for on the second hand market, while also factoring in the amount

then a boat that was used from April to October almost every day by your whole
family.
The second thing you should do is to decide what kind of advertisement you are
going to be taking out. One of the easiest ways to advertise is to take out an
ad in the ad pages of the local newspaper. Another route one can take to
showcase a boat for sale would be to track down magazines that specialize in
boats or boat related activities (like sport fishing magazines) these magazines,
like newspapers, also have advertising spaces for people who want to buy and
sell things, but the added appeal to taking out a magazine ad is that you are
putting a fat juicy worm in front of a very hungry fish. People who are in need
of a boat will more likely look in the ad section of a fishing magazine then
they would the local newspaper. The magazine ad rates cost the same amount of
money as those for the newspaper.
When working on your ad be sure to state if the new owner is expected to come
pick up the boat or if you are going to bring the boat to the new owner. This
is important as the last thing you want to get is an angry call from the owner
asking why the boat isn't at the owner's dock as you assumed that the new owner
would pick up the boat.
