by Sam Smart Digital Marketing Manager

This error 1406 is mostly seen during installing a new program that uses the Windows Installer runtime. So Here we’re describing three methods to fix this error.

Method 1: By Modify Registry

This procedure suitable for those who’re well versed with registry editing, follow this steps

  • Select Windows Flag Key + R from the keyboard.
  • Write regedit and click Enter.
  • Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software.
  • Right-click to Software and press Permissions.
  • Now press on Add.
  • Type Everyone in the box and press on OK.
  • Tap on Everyone under the usernames.
  • In permissions sections, allow full control by clicking on Allow.
  • Now find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software & HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Setup.
  • If you find InstanceComponentSet, delete it.

Highly Recommended: Backup before applying this method.

Method 2: By Re-Register Windows Installer

In this procedure, you have to first unregister and then register Microsoft windows installer.

  • Select Windows Flag + R from your keyboard.
  • Write msiexec/unregserver and press Enter.
  • You have to re-open RUN and write msiexec/regserver. Then press enter.

If this doesn’t work, try to reopen Command Prompt as Administrator and write these commands and hit enter for each commands.

Method 3: Install in Safe Mode

In case these two above methods are unable to fix error 1406, then attempt installation of Blue stacks or similar programs in safe mode. Users of Windows 7 or previous versions need to start in the safe mode. For booting into safe mode reboot the computer and hit F8 again and again.  Then you will notice some advanced options in black screen. Type Safe Mode next to the arrow button of keyboard and hit enter.

Users of Windows 8 or Upper version of windows, you have to start into safe mode by using different method.

I hope these methods will help your error 1406 while installing Bluestacks, MS Office or any other applications.
