How to Remove Android Stock Apps Without Rooting

Stock apps come pre-installed with Android smartphones and tablets. But, you may want to get rid of these apps, due to several reasons. Some of these stock apps and games carry bloatware. Also, they take up a lot of space. In case these apps or games are using your data or have malware, then you may want to remove them.

These apps can be removed by rooting the phone. However, many people do not prefer to do so. If you are one of them, then do not get discouraged. You will still be able to delete unwanted apps from your phone. Read on and learn how to remove stock apps without rooting your Android phone.

From the Settings

  1. Open the Settings app on your Android phone.
  2. From the list of options, choose Applications.
  3. Now, you need to choose the Application Manager.
  4. You will see that the Uninstall option is missing for specific apps.
  5. Tap on Force Stop.
  6. After that, tap on Disable.

Now, the stock app has been successfully removed. This process can be repeated for other stock apps that you want to delete from your Android phone. In case you see that the applications are not installed completely, then move on to the next method.

Use a Debloater tool

This method involves permitting the developer option. This feature can be turned on by the following steps:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Now, select the About Phone Option.
  3. Scroll down and tap on Build Number.
  4. Keep tapping it repeatedly until the feature gets enabled.
  5. Then, you can find the developer option in the Settings menu.
  6. Tap on the option.
  7. Locate the USB Debugging option.
  8. Enable the option.
  9. Open the computer and find the Debloater tool.
  10. You need to download and install it. It is useful in removing system apps from devices.
  11. Now, hook up your Android device to your Windows computer with a USB cable.
  12. Allow the computer to detect the connected device.
  13. After that, a warning prompt will appear on the screen.
  14. Click on the Read Phone Packages tab at the upper left corner.
  15. Now, you will get a view of all the apps installed on your Android smartphone.
  16. The app list will show the blocked and not blocked apps.
  17. Choose the apps you want to delete from the Android phone.
  18. After that, click on the Apply button.
  19. The selected apps will get deleted from the phone.
  20. To undo this, just unselect the apps.

Via ADB

  1. First, you need to go do the Google Play Store.
  2. Now, search for App Selector.
  3. Download and install it on your device.
  4. After that, turn on the computer and install the Android Debug Bridge.
  5. Find the App inspection app on your phone.
  6. Select the App List option.
  7. Tap on the application you want to remove.
  8. Note down the application path.
  9. After that, just hook up your Android phone to your computer using the USB cable.
  10. When the device gets paired, click on Transfer Files.
  11. After that, open Command Prompt.
  12. Type the following command: adb devices.
  13. Hit the Enter key.
  14. After that, to get in the shell mode, enter adb shell.
  15. In case you wish to remove the application, enter the command mentioned below:

Pm uninstall-k –user 0

Note: It is best not to uninstall or disable Google Applications such as Play Store, Maps, etc. Doing so can cause your phone to crash.
