Reset your Apple ID password on your iPhone or iPad.
- Go to the Settings app.
- Select [Your Name]> Password> Security> Change Password.
- If you are logged in with an iCloud, password, you will be prompted to enter a password for your device. If you do not have iCloud logged into your device, then you need to choose another password recovery method.
- Follow the on-screen steps to update your password.
Reset your Apple ID password on your Mac with macOS Catalina.
- Select Apple Menu> System Preferences, then click Apple ID.
- Choose Password and Security.
- If you are prompted to enter your Apple ID password, click "Forgot your Apple ID or Password" and follow the on-screen instructions.
If you are not asked to enter your Apple ID password, select Change Password. Before you can reset your Apple ID password, you must enter the password used to unlock your Mac.

- Choose Apple Menu> System Preferences, then click iCloud.
- Choose an account statement.

If you are not asked to enter your Apple ID password, select Change Password. Before you can reset your Apple ID password, you must enter the password used to unlock your Mac.
However, if this is not working, or your two-factor authentication is turned off, you may want to go the other way. Account recovery is the way to go. Just note that Apple ID account recovery may take some time before you can actually sign in to your account again.
