How to Manage Compressed Air with Air Filters?

by Audry Campbell Writer
All the contaminated by-products of the compressed air systems like oily water, dirt and rust corrodes and dilutes the effectiveness of the lubricators, and air motors. Thus, air filters are required for providing detoxified, clean sterile air. The various kinds of air filters which helps eliminate all sorts of items are:-

Coalescing filters – Drains water aerosols, dirt solid particles in the air stream. It works in the manner of three-dimensional polyester microfiber, which is ideal for coalescing. The air pressure starts low, thus saves energy and environment. It reduces the release of CO2 and CFCs. The filters are mostly suitable for all types of energy efficient compressor.

Oil vapor and odor removal filters – These are easy to use and are highly efficient. It is flexible and safe with innovative filtration mechanism and low maintenance cost.

Works in three layers.
•The first stage contains activated carbon, which absorbs all sorts of vapor, oil and hydrocarbon.
•The second layer is instilled with boro silicate microfiber poly amide. It helps drain the particulate elements in the air stream.
•The final filtration stage has a stainless steel core, which prevents pressure shock.

It is applied for dental, medical air, paint sprays and in food packaging industry.

Immediate pressure reducing filters – Has a differential pressure gauge and drain valve. It works in 5 filtration grades, thus help remove oil dirt and other pollutants. Its maintenance cost is low as it provides high performance after easy installation. These filters can be used to manage the compressed air systems in –
Air blast circuit breakers
Ship borne air distribution systems and engine.
Pet bottling and pipeline pressure testing.

Water separators – It is used to remove liquid oily water and such other particulates from the gas stream. The aluminum water separator has aluminum housing while the carbon steel separators are instilled with that particular material. Both function with the swirl vanes used for the liquid removal, which also drops the pressure. The standard devices are equipped with float drain valves while others with zero-air loss drain valves. They are energy efficient with low cost maintenance and are suitable for all air compressors for liquid removal at all flow conditions.

Membrane filters – Clean compressed air is required for food and beverage industry. The compressed air pressure is dropped and is further sterilized by the layers of membranes so that the germs and microorganisms cannot live in such conditions.

Silicon free filters – Are basically designed for auto mobile industry, removes dust and other contaminates and also eliminates chemicals thus maintaining the health of the compressors including oil flooded compressor, PET compressor, Boge compressor and so on, becomes easier and requires less repairing.
