How to make desi ghee at home?

Do you know how to make desi ghee? If you prefer using homemade ghee, then this article is just for you. Making ghee at home is time-consuming but the final product is truly satisfying. Desi ghee is considered to be one of the most nutritious cooking oils that has multiple health benefits. Anyone who wants to lead a healthy and active lifestyle, should include a few teaspoons of ghee in the diet. The process of desi ghee making process starts with collecting pure cow milk. 

  1. First you need to boil the milk and turn off the heat. Now add a few teaspoons of curd and let sit for at least eight hours for the proper formation of curd.

  2. Now you need to use this homemade curd for churning. Churn it until the butter forms and gets separated from the butter milk. It's an important step for making pure ghee.

  3. Now collect the formed butter which is the pure unsalted form of butter. Now add this butter to a heavy bottom deep pot and begin to heat it on a medium flame. 

  4. Stir occasionally and reduce the heat soon you will see that the color of butter begins to change from yellow to light golden. 

  5. Now you will see that the milk solids have started to settle at the bottom and the bubbles will reduce significantly.

Now comes the final step of making desi ghee. Let the mixture cool down and strain it through a cheesecloth and press down the milk solids. Store the pure desi ghee in an airtight jar and enjoy delicious recipes.
