How To Increase The Performance Of A Diesel Truck?

by Luis Jimenez Auto Transport And Manufacturing Business
If you are in the business of trailering and own a diesel truck, you simply can’t help but admire the capabilities of your towing vehicle. This is because diesel trucks are generally designed for ensuring easy haulage of heavy loads. However, did you know there are plenty of ways to make your diesel truck stronger than it is at present, so strong that it can drag a loaded 4 or 5 car trailer behind it? Well, if your answer is no, then here are some effective tips that you can put to some seriously good use:

Driving Force

In general, frequent heavy towing can be detrimental on the drive-line located at the back of the diesel engine. And if just a single hard part starts malfunctioning, it can terminate your long haul all of a sudden. Therefore, to improve the driving force, you must upgrade the torque converter and transmission by replacing them with high performance units. Apart from that, you might also have to hike up the cooling capacity of the transmission and axle differentials.

Breathing

For giving a substantial boost to your diesel truck’s power, remove its default airbox and switch to a high-flow cold-air intake. But that won’t be enough to improve the breathing of the engine. You will also have to upgrade the exhaust, exhaust manifold, intake manifold, turbocharger, up-pipes, downpipe and intercooler.

Tires & Wheels

A number of things like fuel economy and road safety depends significantly on the contact between the road and your truck/trailer combo. Therefore, it is important for you to invest in trailer tires that are rated properly for carrying the load specified by the GVWR of your trailering equipment. Besides that, you must also buy wheels which can handle weight effectively.

Artificial Intelligence

Rather than trying to control everything of your trailering equipment on your own, it can be prudent of you to invest in sophisticated computerised products. For example, if you use transmission controllers, they would enhance your equipment’s overall performance, decrease general wear & tear and also prevent damage to automatic transmission.

Therefore, if you manage to implement some or all of these measures, the performance of your tow truck would greatly improve and you will also be to keep yourself & other road users. In addition to that, you won’t have to invest too much effort or money in the maintenance of your equipment. Further, your diesel truck will stay durable and continue to serve you ideally for many years to come.
