How To Improve Your Express Entry Crs Scores

by Althaf M Yoonus Digital Marketing Executive

Express Entry program is run by the Canadian government to invite and manage the applications for permanent residency from foreign skilled workers. Being launched in 2015, the program has been regarded as a giant leap in meeting Canada’s labour requirements. There are various programs developed under the Express Entry system. These programs evaluate various criteria like age, marital status, education level, work experience, language results etc to select the ideal candidates. All these criteria give the candidates respective scores to meet the benchmark for immigrating to Canada. The higher you score, the higher will be the possibilities of getting Canadian permanent residency.

The selection programs are mainly divided into four categories - Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, Canadian Experience Class Express entry, and aligned Provincial Nominee Programs. Each of them has different criteria and guidelines for qualification. Candidates who wish to immigrate to Canada must be eligible under any of these categories, and only then they get a chance to create the Express Entry profile and enter the pool of candidates. On the basis of the evaluation, the candidate will be assigned a score under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The shortlisted candidates will be then issued an invitation to apply (ITA) for PR within 60 days.

Among the many aspects, securing good CRS scores is all important when it comes to immigration. There are many ways a candidate can secure better CRS score and increase their chances of getting invited to apply for permanent residency. You might have got enlisted under an immigration program, created the profile and assigned a CRS score. Unless you have assigned top-notch scores, there is no purpose in sitting idle. The score will not be locked in and you can always try to improve it. Sometimes you might be able to clinch a few points but it can make a difference in the chances of getting invited.

French Skills

As per the latest amendments, if you have good French proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing, and happens to score NCLC 7, then you are eligible to get more additional points to your score. This will be an extra addition to the points received for official languages. Get in touch with the best Canada immigration consultants in India to know more about securing better scores.

Siblings in Canada

You can earn additional points if either you or your spouse or common-law partner have a brother or sister living in Canada and happens to be a permanent resident of Canada. In order to claim the points, your siblings should be 18 years old or older, related to the candidate by blood, marriage, common-law partnership or adoption.

Education

Apart from the Federal Skilled Workers Program, no other programs require to have an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA), which evaluates the candidate's foreign education. This report will judge whether your job profile is valid and equal to the Canadian standards. In the case of other Express Entry pools, you have great chances to score more with the education you possess.

Work Experience

Work experience is an important factor under the Express Entry system. It must meet the prescribed benchmarks under the programs to make you qualify for immigration. If you have more than 3 years of work in a foreign country, you can gain more CRS points and eventually get the Invitation to Apply. In the case of Canadian Job offers, it should be at least 1 year or more to be able to qualify for Express Entry.
