How to Have Loads of Fun During Your Tenerife Holidays

by Amanda Sutcliffe Travel Deals

An island that attracts millions of tourists every year, Tenerife is the largest among the Canary Islands and home to some fascinating natural surroundings. Most of the tourism-related activities are concentrated in the southern part of the island, where there are many elegant resorts and white-sand beaches. There's much more to the island than its beautiful surroundings and chic resorts. One of them is the grand Carnaval celebration, which is considered the second most popular carnival in the world.

The pleasant climate of the island makes it an ideal destination that can be visited at any time during the year. You can enjoy a relaxing time on the beach and indulge in some exciting water sports if you visit during December and January. The best time to enjoy cheap Tenerife holidays is from September to December and from March to May. The only period at these times when the island gets a heavy rush of tourists is during Easter. If you're someone in search for some excellent deals on airfares and hotel stays, it is advisable to avoid the high tourist season from November to March. The hotter months of May, June, July, and August are also avoided by many tourists.

Undoubtedly, the most important among the attractions on this Spanish Island is the Teide National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This national park is among the most visited national parks in the world and is located on Mount Teide, which is the highest mountain in Spain. Your Tenerife holidays would also give you the chance to make a trip to Punta del Hidalgo. This small fishing village in the San Cristobal de La Laguna municipality has largely been untouched by tourism. You can enjoy the traditional dishes in any of the local restaurants while exploring this village.

During your time spent on this Canary island, you'll get ample opportunities to indulge in several outdoor activities. When you're in Costa Adeje, you can enjoy hiking and snorkelling. Los Gigantes would be an excellent place to enjoy whale and dolphin watching as the sea along the cliffs attract many fur dolphins and whales. The village of Masca had no proper road access until the mid-20th century and some of its hiking trails lead you through some unique natural landscapes. Your cheap holidays to Tenerife would also allow you to visit the Anaga region, which is home to some spectacular beaches and forest areas.

Your holiday on this Spanish island would give you the chance to savour the delicious varieties of local dishes in its restaurants. One of them is Papas Arrugadas, which is prepared by boiling wrinkled potatoes in salty water and served with a red salsa called ‘Mojo Rojo' and a green salsa called 'Mojo Verde'. Churros de Pescado is yet another delectable treat from the local cuisine, which comprises fish and chips. They're served with garlic mayonnaise called 'alioli'. You'll also relish the 'Chopitos' or tiny fried squids that are salty and crispy. They can be made even more lip-smacking by sprinkling a certain amount of lemon juice over them.
