How to Fix Bluetooth Wireless issue on Mac OS X

In today’s time, mostly everything has become wireless, like mice, keyboard, speakers, etc. these devices can be connected with the help of Bluetooth. If you’re using these devices on your Mac and your Bluetooth devices is not working or stops working then here are the simple ways to solve Bluetooth wireless issue on Mac.

Things you can try to fix your Bluetooth Wireless problems:

1.    Turn your Bluetooth Off and then On it again.

2.    Remove Bluetooth Preference List from Mac.

3.    Pair Bluetooth with your Mac.

4.    Reset Bluetooth System of Mac.

By turning your Bluetooth Off and then On again

If Bluetooth appears in your Mac’s menu bar, then you can directly go to Bluetooth’s Settings and turn it off and on from there. If it is not then,

1.    Go to ‘System Preferences’.

2.    Then go to ‘Bluetooth’ from System preferences screen.

3.    Click on the button ‘Turn Bluetooth Off’ at the left side pane of Bluetooth window.

4.    Wait for a minute.

5.    Click on the button again, but now it will be turned into ‘Turn Bluetooth On’.

6.    Check the box of ‘Show Bluetooth in Menu Bar’. Doing this will show Bluetooth in your Mac’s menu bar for easier access.

Now, check your Bluetooth is recognising the device and working or not.

By Removing Bluetooth Preference file from Mac

1.    Launch ‘Finder’.

2.    And then go to ‘/YourStartupDrive/Library/Preferences’.

Or

Use ‘Command+shift+G’ > Enter ‘/Library/Preferences’ > then hit ‘Enter’ button.

3.    Once you reached to /YourStartupDrive/Library/Preferences window, scroll down and find ‘com.apple.Bluetooth.plist’ under the list.

4.    Click and hold the ‘com.apple.Bluetooth.plist’ file and take it to the Desktop. This is for creating a backup file of the Bluetooth Preference file that has to be deleted.

5.    Now, right- click on ‘com.apple.Bluetooth.plist’ file from the /YourStartupDrive/Library/Preferences window.

6.    And then click on ‘Move to Trash’ from the context options.

7.    Enter ‘Administrator password’ to confirm, when asked.

8.    Close all opened ‘Applications’.

9.    And restart Mac.

Pairing Bluetooth with your Mac

After restarting Mac, automatically a new Bluetooth Preferences file will be formed. Since Bluetooth Preferences file is new, so you need to pair your Bluetooth with the Mac again.

To start the pairing process manually,

1.    Ensure the Bluetooth device is turned on.

2.    Go to the ‘System Preferences’. You can open system preferences from Apple Menu as well as from its Dock icon.

3.    Now, go to ‘Bluetooth’ from System preferences screen.

4.    Into the Devices section, click the ‘Connect’ button next to your Bluetooth device name.

5.    Do the process again for other Bluetooth devices.

Now, check your Bluetooth is recognising and working or not.

Resetting Bluetooth System of Mac

Wait! Still, your Bluetooth device is not working? Don’t reset your Mac’s Bluetooth system until you’ve not tried all the other solution. You can search for other solution there are many options are available or check your Bluetooth device is it okay. At last when you’ve tried everything you can proceed for this resting Mac’s Bluetooth system.

Keep in Mind resetting Bluetooth system will erase the previous device you’ve paired with your Mac.

1.    Enable ‘Show Bluetooth in Menu bar’.

2.    Now, hold down ‘Shift + Option key’ and click on the ‘Bluetooth’ menu bar icon.

3.    Go to ‘Debug’ from the Hidden feature dropdown menu.

4.    And select ‘Remove all Devices’.

5.    After removing again, hold down ‘Shift + Option key’ and click on the ‘Bluetooth’ menu bar icon.

6.    Go to ‘Debug’ from the Hidden feature dropdown menu.

7.    And, click on ‘Reset the Bluetooth Module’. Once your Mac’s Bluetooth system is reset successfully, you will find it as new similar to the first day. Hope now your Bluetooth Wireless issue is solved.
