How to Export G Suite Mailbox to PST Like A Pro

·         G Suite Takeout method

Use Google Takeout to generate the PST file

Google Takeout is Google's free tool. It helps to archive data in 4 different ways, viz

a) Add to drive

b) Add to OneDrive

c) Add to Dropbox

d) Send the download link via email

Note: If the user wishes to "send the download link via email", a link will be generated and the link will expire within 7 days. Therefore, be sure to download the file within 7 days.

To create a backup of your G Suite email, follow these steps,

·         First, go to Google Takeout.

·         Log in to your Gmail account and press the "Create Archive" option.

·         Select the items to export, then click  on the "Start" button.

·         Now, click Download to access the Zip file.

·         Browse to the desired location to save the zip file.

In this way, Google Takeout will download and save the file in MBOX format. To export the file in PST, you need to either use a MBOX to PST Converter or do the following:

·         Open Thunderbird and import the MBOX file.

·         Drag the messages onto the desktop from the imported MBOX file.

·         Open the MS Outlook application.

·         Drag and drop the files from desktop to Outlook folder.

·         Now, select the Open and export option from File menu.

·         Next, open the import and export window.

·         Select the "Export to a file" option to export G Suite to PST.

·         Select PST and choose the folder to export the Outlook PST.

·         Click Finish and the files are successfully exported as PST file.

 

Configure the G Suite email account in Outlook to export the PST file

·         First, enable 2-step verification for G Suite and generate a password that will connect with Outlook.

·         Select the "File" option and then click on the "Add Account" option.

·         Now, enter your name, email ID, password and other details on the "Auto account setup" page.

·         Then click Next, then click Finish.

·         In this way, MS Outlook has been configured with Google Mail and the email is attractive in Outlook.

·         Now, choose File >> Open and Export >> Import / Export to export G Suite emails to Outlook.

·         Select the "Export to file" option and click "Next".

·         Select the PST file as the file type and click "Next".

·         Now, select the Google Account to export.

·         Make sure the "Include subfolders" checkbox is checked.

·         Navigate to the desired location where the output PST file will be saved, then click "Finish".

Limitations of the manual method of transferring G Suite emails to PST files

·         Each G Suite account needs to be exported one at a time.

·         Long passes may take longer.

·         Non-technical users may not be able to perform this method.

·         May cause data mismatch.
