Started in the year 2020, the world has been facing an ongoing crisis due to a deadly pandemic caused by the coronavirus. To prevent the rate of infection the governments of several countries across the globe have been taking preventative measures. One of the foremost of which includes declaring a lockdown, wherein all the public places would be closed along with offices, schools, and colleges.

The students on the other hand are suffering in terms of facing difficulty due to the drastic changes. College admissions being one of the major concerns for which they require adequate support and counsel.

The education sector had to bear the consequences, by canceling many exams such as the board examinations, and a few have been postponed indefinitely. The obscurity of determining marks to promote the students would further prove to be an issue for taking admissions in colleges.

The Need of Online College Admission & Enrollment

Traditional students’ enrollment process in college or university are no longer viable options in the face of a strict lockdown. Hence, physically going to the campus and talking to admission counselors to get a better understanding of which particular course to pursue has become impossible. So it is understandable when learners get distressed about their academic lives, as the admission process is in disarray in the case of those colleges which do not have provisions of online enrollment facilities.

As a student, here’s how you can do online college admission during the Covid-19 pandemic.

#1: Choose Field of Interest

When it comes to admission in colleges for higher education, it can be a daunting task for many especially if they do not have accurate guidance. At times there are students who just do what their friends are doing, unsure about their own goals. This later becomes a point of regret, as later they discover that they are interested in something else and they have been wasting time doing something completely irrelevant to their interest.

Hence before enrolling in any institute first prioritize your choice of subjects, courses, other provisions which college is providing that.

#2: Do Research about Educational Institutions

With the availability of plenty of information online, it is quite easy to research about the educational institutions, along with that there are admission experts too from whom one can seek help. Friends and family often provide helpful advice, hence taking that into account can also prove to be fruitful.

An extensive research about institutions prior to enrollment would help you get a reputed college. If your marks meet the expected criteria, then do opt for an institution that has got accreditation like “NAAC Accreditation” or “NBA Accreditation”.

#3: Stay Updated about College Admissions Notifications

To curtail the negative impact of covid, the education sector had to take necessary actions conducive to the continuance of the learning process. A part of their strategy involved conducting college admissions online including the form filling, submission of important documents, and payment of fees. Similarly, they also have been posting important notices in terms of admissions and entrance exams on the college websites, so it is important to keep checking in to the website to remain updated.

#4: Online Registration & Document Submission

As a student, you need to register online for the college admission. All you are required to do is sign up on the portal and then upload the documents required for the admission. It may include -

  • Old certificates of passing
  • Entrance exam score
  • Proof of address
  • Marksheets/degree
  • Caste/religion certificate
  • Transfer certificate

All documents will be verified and based on that students will be shortlisted.

#5: Online Counselling

Upon the submission of the documents or completion of the entrance exam, if the student is accepted in the college depending on the marks he or she scored, the counselling process is the next important step. Since visiting the campus for the process is not an option, look out for the notifications provided by the college in regards to the same. Student attendance management system integrated with college campus software are often used by institutes to regulate and take care of administrative tasks such as allocating classes, batches, and storing student data.

Therefore, the students don’t need to worry about the procedural delays occurring during offline admissions. As for the online counseling, if it is organized by the institute make sure to attend that, in case you don't have any electronic device to attend the event then borrow it from a friend or family, surely they won’t refuse to help in a time of such dire need.

#5: Online Fees Payment & Selection

Online fees payment is crucial in seeking online admissions.

Due to the “social distancing” policies, obviously, students can’t take the risk to stand in queues.

Therefore, educators must provide them an online fees management platform that is reliable & robust and most importantly secure with double encryption & OTP!

 #6: Online Admission Completion

Finally, when the admission to the college is completed a student is expected to keep regular contact with the particular authoritative personnel who is responsible for updating the students about the class schedules. There is a relentless battle going on against this deadly virus, an attempt to flatten the curve; but despite several attempts, the pandemic still rages on.

The chances of conducting in-campus classes are zero, online classes are going to be the norm, hence do not forget to remain updated about the commencement of the course.
