How to Delete your Google or Microsoft Accounts?
by Edward Lewis consultantTo avail the services of IT giants like Google and Microsoft it
is mandatory to have a user account to avail their various services. It becomes
a source of verification and personal protection of the user’s data and
information.
To avail services like Gmail, Outlook, Google Play store or
OneDrive, you have to create a user id to access any of the services. It is
possible that you have more than one account which you have created for
professional or personal use and now you are not willing to use both but one.
So in such a condition, you can delete an account which you don’t prefer to use
on a daily basis. To delete your accounts on Google or Microsoft, you can
follow the given steps and delete your user account.
Steps to Remove
Google Account
Your Google account helps you in linking various Google services
like Google Play store, Gmail, Google hangout, and Google drive under one user
ID. If you have Chromebook or Google Home your Google account becomes essential
to access such devices. It becomes your access key to all your Google services.
Though, if you are sure and still wish to continue with deleting
your Google Account, you can follow the given steps.
- Head to “Google account” page
- Now from the “Account and preferences” section, choose “Delete
your account or service.”
- Select “Delete products” option and sign in with your account
- Now select all the services you want to remove.
You can choose all the services that you wish to remove and
proceed. It will still show all the personal data like music, pictures from
which you can download anything you like as backup because Google will remove
all your data. You can also recover your data by login in again within a
certain period.
Steps to Remove
Microsoft Account
Microsoft account is one of the most used accounts which are
linked to many services provided by Microsoft like Xbox Live, Skype, Outlook,
OneDrive and many more but its significant use lies with the Windows PC user,
as they must have a compulsive Microsoft account to log in to their computers.
If you have any money in your Microsoft account, it will also be removed which
will lead to your money loss, so before deleting your Microsoft account make
sure to have no cash inside that account.
Before deleting your account keep in mind of the fact that you
would be unable to access any of the services linked to your account, but if
you are sure to delete the account follow the given steps to do so.
- First, go to the “information page.”
- Now, you have to choose “How to close your Microsoft account”
option.
- Then, scroll down and select “Close your account” which will
redirect you to sign in page for validating a genuine user.
- Choose the reason for which you wish to delete your account.
- Now, confirm and select “Ok.”
- At last, restart your computer.
If a user feels he does not want to delete his account, he can
log in with same user ID and password within 60 days to access his account
after deletion as after the given period all information on the deleted account
will be removed by Microsoft.
