How to Defragment Windows 7 Device?

  1. Firstly, choose the Windows Start option.
  2. Then, choose the ‘All Programs’ tab.
  3. Next, visit the Accessories.
  4. After that, press on System Tools.
  5. Lastly, tap on Disk Defragmenter.

Schedule Defragmentation

  1. Firstly, select the Configure schedule option.
  2. Then, go to the ‘Disk Defragment Modify Schedule’ dialog.
  3. Next, choose the pull-down for Frequency, Day, as well as Time.

The right time of doing this is night, as the process of defragmenting a drive takes plenty of resources that can make your system more slowly as compared to earlier.

  • After that, choose Select disks for selecting the hard drive that needs to be defragmented. Note that the ‘Select Disks For Schedule’ dialog shall be launched. Over here, you need to choose the drives from you wish scheduling defragmentation of and press on ‘OK’ option.
  • Next, one more time choose ‘OK’ for returning to the main ‘Disk Defragmenter’ display. Under Schedule, you shall see the scheduled task.
  • Lastly, press on ‘Close’ for finishing.

Analyzing hard drives

  1. Firstly, choose a single drive located under the ‘Current status’ part.
  2. After that, choose the Analyze disk option.
  3. Next, see that the fragmentation is displayed on the Last Run column.

Viewing the development

  • You shall be able to see the status of the defrag session if you want. Choose the Defragment disk, and then your system shall immediately start displaying the data related to the defragmentation process that is taken place.
