Facebook groups can serve different purposes for the admin of the group and the members of the group.  So let's look into why and how to create a Facebook group.

Why Create a Facebook Group?

These are some of the reasons you may want to create a Facebook group:

1.  To provide a place where people with a particular company or group within a company can share ideas, events, documents, etc.

2.  To provide a place where members can share advertisements for products and service or any information they choose.

3.  For the purpose of syndicating content.

4.  To provide a group for a niche or topic such as pet owners, gardeners, marketing training, internet marketers etc. where ideas can be shared about topics relating to that niche.

Additional Benefits for Creating Your Own Facebook Group

1.  Creating your own group in Facebook gives the admin of the group control of the rules for the group and control of who can join and remain in the group.

2.  As the admin for a Facebook group you can pin a post so that it will appear as the first post on the page when anyone accessing the group. This gives you control to point out important info to the group such as a reminder of the rules for posting to the group or simply allows you to advertise your own message to the group.

There are some admins who will share the pinning of posts with other members. Most admins, however, either pin their own posts or allow the natural flow of posts in the group and never pin ads.
