by Alisha Perry A Blogger
If are considering buying or have already bought a new number plate, then you are probably wondering how to go about changing number plates and attach to your vehicle. Having observed that changing number plates on paperwork is an arduous task than changing physically. There are a plethora of things you need to consider. That’s the reason, this post has come to the rescue.

Listed below are the steps that you need to keep in mind if you are considering changing your plate on paperwork. Let’s talk about them in detail.

1. Send the V5C Logbook: To change the registration, first of all, you need to send the V5C logbook to the DVLA and make sure you mention the correct correspondence.

If you have just changed or shifted to a new location, you need to send this with the V5C. However, you need to send the second V5C along with a completed V317 form if you are looking to change number plates from one vehicle to another.

Talking about another scenario, if you are considering transferring registration from a certificate, then it is important for you to ensure that certificate cannot have already expired.

2. Must-Have Tax & MOT: There is no arguing with the fact that DVLA will no longer issue you with new tax discs and MOTs. However, they will probably change your current tax information to the new number plate. And this will be done only when you submit your V5C logbook. In addition, make sure you don’t send anything extra.

If you are changing number plates, then it is mandatory to have tax and MOT. This is even necessary for those vehicles that don’t have tax/MOT.

3. Consider Calling an Insurance Company: When changing number plates, you must call your insurance company so they can update their own records. Calling will not add an expense, however, it still depends on your provider.

When changing number plates you must keep in mind the current laws regarding the display of number plates.
