In such a situation you’ll want to mark your important messages so that you can quickly see them whenever you need. Mac OS X Mail offers a lot of features with ease of access, and the Email background color is one from them. It provides you various colors to choose from, pick, and mark the emails as you want. Setting a background color in the emails is a pretty simple job; you just have to select the message and choose a color for it from the ‘Format/Show Colors’ menu.  You can remove the color whenever you want. Here is the process to set colors in an email’s background.

1.    Launch the app and go to the folder or smart folder that has the message you want to highlight.

2.    After that, look for your desired message and select it.

3.    Ensure that the message is selected and open the Format menu.

4.    Then click on ‘Show Colors’ in the menu. If you don’t see this on the menu, then you’ll need to select ‘Hide Colors’ option first. Once you choose it, ‘Show Colors’ option will start appearing on the menu, now you can select it.

Tips: Alternatively, you can use ‘Command + Shift + C’ keyboard shortcut to show and hide the Colors window.

5.    Now, you’ll see color picking option on your screen.

6.    Click and pick the color you want to add to the message’s background.

The selected color will be applied to the message.
