Crystal Reports .rpt files can be viewed using SAP Crystal Viewer, which is a free to use software and can be availed through the internet. If you don’t have CR Viewer installed on your PC, then you will have to download the software to view any .rpt files.

Get Crystal Reports

To download the Crystal Reports software head to http://www.crystalreports.com/crystal-viewer/ by using your browser. It is a free to access program, so users can easily avail it to view their .rpt files.

Now, to initiate the download of CR Viewer, users will have to fill up a form with some necessary details like name, country, and email id. Once you fill all the details, select the “Free Download” button to proceed to the next window.

Then users will have to choose the Installation Package link according to their operating system. Then simply save the downloaded files on your system. The CR Viewer downloaded files will be compressed in a zip file, so users will have to unzip it inside a folder.

After that open the unzipped files and look for “Data_Units” folder then choose the installer for Windows. If you are using a macOS, then select the macOS installer. Then click twice on VRRRViewer.exe and follow the on-screen prompts to initiate the installation and then hit “Finish” to complete the process.

Open Crystal Reports

Once the installation process ends, head to the start menu of your computer and click on “All Apps” and then select the “Open SAP Crystal Reports 2016 viewer. Then select the “I agree” button to verify yourself. This authentication process will only be prompted for the first time you access CR Viewer.

Then users will have to select the “Browse for report” button which is under the “Open” option. By choosing the Browse for report option, users will be able to access their File Browser, which could be used to view any data stored in the computer.

Access the RPT File

Now navigate the Browse option and look for the targeted .rpt file which you want to view by accessing the folder it is stored in. Then click on the desired .rpt file that you want to open by using your mouse and then select the “Open” button which is at the bottom of the screen.

If an individual accurately follows the steps mentioned above, then they will be able to view Crystal Reports .rpt files with great ease. Hopefully, now you will be able to access any .rpt data in the future with the help of SAP CR Viewer.
