How the internet has revolutionized the education sector

by James McGuire Outstanding Writing
Since the advent of internet technology, the technology has without a doubt has profound impacts to every sector. According to some people, the internet has been a good thing while others argue that the internet has had various negative impacts to various sectors as well as the society at large. This article discusses in detail how the internet has changed the education sector.

For starters, the internet can be described as a global computer network that offers access volumes of information as well as communication facilities. At the time of inception, the internet was quite expensive making it the preserve of government departments. However, a few years after the inception, various governments together with other stakeholders joined forces in order to make the internet cheaper even though it is only during the last decade that the internet has become relatively cheap which has, on the other hand, resulted to a lot of people having access to the technology. For instance, it is now possible for students to get cheap custom writing service from the internet.

When discussing the impacts of internet technology to the education sector, it is important to highlight that internet has had both positive and negative impacts on the education sector. One of the main positive impacts that the internet technology has had to the education sector is that it has made it possible for information to be shared among the students, lecturers, and even other stakeholders through the various communication platforms made available by the technology. For instance, through blackboard (moodle), the students are able to communicate with each other and at the same time download files and other additional materials related to the specific course that the student is learning.

Another benefit of internet technology entails the ability to make it possible for learning institutions to offer courses online. For example, through the internet, colleges and universities are able to offer courses online where students enrol for the courses and then attend online classes that are conducted in a virtual environment. However, critics have been quick to point out online learning cannot be verified since students can buy term papers online and then submit them as their own without the learning institutions knowing.

Though the internet, colleges and universities among other learning institutions have been able to become diverse as they have recruited students from different parts of the world. The diversity of these learning institutions have on the other hand made these institutions to become competitive as they have been able to compete effectively and boost their rankings. For example, in modern days, it has become a trend to find a university having students from all corners of the world while in the past, only a few universities admitted students from foreign countries.

In conclusion, it can be noted that without a doubt, the internet has definitely impacted the education sector in a big way. In the near future, it is expected that the internet will continue to have key impacts to the sector to the extent that any learning institution that ignores integrating internet technology in its learning is going to be considered to be outdated. Thus, the management team of the different learning institutions needs to make sure that there are adequate measures in place in order to ensure that the technology is fully embraced.
