How Eliminate Bed Bugs from Your Home

by Austin Baines Content Writer

If you've noticed bites on your skin or discovered certain nasty little creatures crawling around on or near your bed, take action immediately! Don’t live with the bed bugs infestation issue otherwise you may end up spending thousands replacing your mattress.

Here's how in just 4 simple steps you can get rid of bed bugs:

Step 1: Preparation

Get rid of any clutter you see on the floor. Clean your bedding, curtains, linens and clothes in hot water and dry them on the highest dryer setting as bed bugs can’t survive if they will stay in a high temperature place for too long and will eventually die. For those items which can’t be washed such as stuffed animals, shoes, and other items, put them inside dryer on high for around half an hour.

Step 2: Inspection

The best environment for bed bugs to survive is a dark and secluded location. Remove and inspect the drawers from the bureau.  Move the furniture from the wall 2-3 feet. Carefully check around those places with flashlight where you think you may have bed bugs like mattress and box spring, including the box spring inside. Check all possible cracks and cracks of fabric and furniture and any other tiny hiding locations in your house behind the headboard, pillows, and screw holes.

Step 3: Treatment

Spray Bed Bug Killer all through the room, particularly in any crack and cranny, mattress seam, etc. Make sure you spray into the innermost folds for any upholstery of yours. Several bed bug killer sprays can be found on the internet which doesn't stain fabric. Take out the pillows and spray. Also remember to do the same with your pet bedding as well. You could also spot some bed bugs hiding behind picture frames, wall hangings, window frames, molding, etc so keep in mind to treat those places as well. It is to remember that when you apply the spray on floor including along the tack strips under the carpet edge, the area will stay a little wet making your floors slippery.

Step 4: Follow-Up

Check the infested area every once in week to see if you encounter any signs of bed bugs infestation. It would be better to retreat after two weeks and then two more weeks later for the best result. This is particularly crucial if you stay in a multi-family home as bed bugs tend to move from one place to another.

Getting rid of this little blood sucking creature is not an easy task and it may take some time to eradicate bed bugs from your place. So for a better and faster treatment, you better consider hiring a professional pest control Melbourne company who can provide you with the finest bed bugs treatment.
