How Astrology Can Help You During A Pandemic

by Samantha Higgins Professional Writer

Keeping yourself focused and calm in 2020 has turned into a full-time job. Not only are we dealing with a lot of uncertainty, but we don't have a known "full stop" when our challenges will either simplify or stop. To stay on top of daily concerns, following your horoscope can reduce worries and show you the path forward.

Managing Anxiety and Uncertainty

The year 2020 has taught us that the actions of a few can radically change our lives, and sadly not always for the better. To prevent getting completely thrown by the actions of others, and to stay on top of your responses, checking your daily horoscopes and the horoscopes of those close to you can reduce big jolts.

For example, if Jupiter and Pluto come together in any sign, they bring abundance and expansion through Jupiter and pair it with shadows and darkness through Pluto. There are points when both Jupiter and Pluto can bring a positive change, but these two in combination have shown up in the plagues of history.

What Abundance and Shadows Mean to You

It's important to note that Jupiter's abundance means inflation, and that's not always good. If you and your partner on occasion have small, stupid arguments about toaster settings and toilet paper placement, too much Jupiter can turn small and stupid arguments into epic battles about laundry, driving styles, and alarm clock settings. Pay attention to Jupiter. You may say much more than needed to be said and cause serious damage to a perfectly lovely relationship.

Pluto doesn't always have to bring darkness when you think about shadow work. Mythologically, Pluto governed the underworld. Astrologically, it governs what is hidden. This may mean that you retreat from the world and use your shelter in place time to create something remarkable. The planet Pluto can be the time to create a Phoenix that rises from the ashes, but you will need to put in some work to avoid getting stuck and burning away to nothing and no good result.

Historical Implications

There are many plagues throughout history that peaked when Jupiter and Pluto paired up. From the 20th century alone, Spanish Influenza and HIV, in early 1918 and late 1981 respectively, have strong ties to the combination of Jupiter and Pluto.

One of the sad points in reviewing the history of these illnesses, including

  • the Russian Plague of 1771, spread by rats

  • the Black Death of Europe, from 1346 to 1353, spread by rats

  • the Plague of Athens, from 430-427 BC, spread by dirty water

is that there were often people in the medical fields trying to let the public know that there was a risk, but conspiracy thinking got in the way. It's important to note that spiritual practices may give you comfort but can't give you protection against disease. Studying your horoscope doesn't mean you shouldn't wear masks, use condoms, avoid rats, and drink clean water.

Keep Looking Up

The stars above have a powerful pull on us. We, humans, contain a lot of water, and the moon acts on the tides every 28 days or so. It's silly to think that we're not impacted by gravitational powers present in the stars. Anyone who works with children has a job in an emergency room, or is in any way associated with the criminal justice system knows that the moon impacts people. Finally, women are deeply tied to the moon and her power.

Every star sign and individual personality has a different reaction to the position of the stars. If you're in the early stages of a relationship and Venus is busy in your personal star sign, watch your mouth. Avoid any product that loosens your tongue; you don't want to scare off your new sweetheart by saying too much.

Make sure you also keep an eye on retrogrades. For example, if the end of October and early November were pretty negative for you, blame Mars. As he comes out of retrograde, you may feel more confident and energized about the projects you tried to start around Halloween.

Pandemic stress and worry are everywhere. Following your horoscope can make it easier to focus your mind on what you can fix and where you can make a difference. Carefully study your chart to determine the best way forward in this difficult time.
