by Aida Martin Norton Setup

The Library of Congress of the U.S national film registry preserves flicks that are aesthetically, historically, or culturally important that includes horror films too. Horror is an essential element, like any other genre despite getting criticism and zero to minimal awards. Horror movies have always been go-to movies and the genre allows everything to take place and provides filmmakers to create the image which is only control by time limitation and money. It is experiencing a great era with Warner Bros and Blumhouse earning massive profits from this genre and streaming landscape that makes it easier for the indie filmmakers to highlight their work.

The list of movies is the most undoubted horror classic that has won the amazing reviews from the fans and critics. It is a little shocking that there is not much post-1990s material added to the National Film Registry. We can guess there will be more as time passes by. Some of the real hitters, including Alien, Halloween, Shining, Exorcist were not added as well. There are several films added to the list like Eraserhead, the debut film of David Lynch, and midnight movie staple Rocky Horror Picture. There are also horror-comedies which signify including Frankenstein by Costello and Abbott Meet or Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein.

The Frankenstein monster is humorous while the classic director Alfred Hitchcock won hearts with the Psycho and The Birds, though the classic Universal Pictures has the films including Bride of Frankenstein and Dracula Frankenstein. 25 movies have been selected by the Library of Congress every year.
