Home Remedies For Jock Itch - Tinea Cruris Natural Treatment

by Jeramey Thompson
Jock Itch or Tinea Cruris is the fungal infection around the genital area, groin, inner thighs, and anus or skin folds. They are also called ringworms. The fungus appears in warm moist area, so the groins are the most affected. Athletes' feet that are sweaty could also be infected with the fungus. Overweight people or those who sweat a lot could also be infected with Jock Itch. It appears like red patches and can affect both sexes, but is more prevalent in males and can be very painful. There is intense itching and burning sensation and the skin becomes reddish brown or tanned with scales. The infected area can become dry and begins to crack, making the pain worse.

Obviously, itching in public could be very embarrassing and constant itching and soreness could make one's life miserable. Thankfully, there are some simple home remedies for Jock Itch. Care must be taken to keep the area clean by taking regular bath with antibacterial soap. All towels and linen should be kept separately, and should strictly not be shared with anyone, to avoid the fungus from spreading, as it could be contagious. Thus, it is very important to maintain hygiene.

It would be ideal to wear loose cotton clothing to prevent rashes. This would enable ease in walking and running.

Next, the area should be kept dry to avoid itching that occurs due to perspiration. The undergarments, especially panties or other underwear should be kept dry by sprinkling talcum powder in them, and should be changed frequently during the day. They should never be reused without washing.

Clothes should be washed in warm water with mild detergents. Hard detergents should be avoided as they can irritate the sores and aggravate pain.

Some anti fungal creams or sprays are available over the counters and provide relief.

One of the easiest home remedies for Jock Itch would be to shed some weight if one is obese, as this would reduce the sweating that causes Jock Itch, and would solve many other problems related to obesity as well.

A nice warm bath by soaking the body for 15-20 minutes in a bathtub to which a little salt has been added can work wonders, as the salt works on the liquid in the blisters and dries them.

Applying tee tree oil on the infected area could also be one of the best home remedies for Jock Itch. Tee tree oil has antibacterial properties, and therefore it is widely used in reducing itching. It is used for many skin treatments.

The infected area could be washed with vinegar or chlorine bleach to provide relief.

After a bath, the area can be dried with a blow dryer, and Apple Cider Vinegar can also be applied 2-3 times a day for best results.

Garlic, the best of all healers in the kitchen can be consumed raw, or a paste of garlic can be prepared and applied on the area to ease the burning sensation and reduce redness.

Sugary foods and refined carbohydrates should be avoided in the diet as they may worsen the problem.
