Holidays to Spain Take You to Some Fabulous Places

by Daisy Wilkinson Travel Guides

Spain is one of the most beautiful and culturally diverse countries in the continent of Europe. Its natural beauty and architectural marvels attract millions of tourists from different parts of the globe annually. For more than 700 years, this nation was occupied by the Moors and this gave it many heritage structures and methods of agriculture. Besides the cities that are popularly visited by the tourists, there are several others where you can make your holiday truly memorable. The country also includes the enchanting Canary and Balearic islands. During your time spent in Spain, you can have many outdoor activities worth indulging in.

Your holidays to Spain would give you some memorable moments while exploring the La Sagrada Familia, a majestic cathedral designed by the famous architect, Antoni Gaudi. Dedicated to the Holy Family, the construction of this cathedral began in the late 19th century and continues even today. No tour of Barcelona can be considered complete without a visit to this amazing cathedral. Although it opens daily, there are certain restrictions placed on visitors during the times of mass, such as dressing appropriately. There is always a possibility of some portions of this building being closed owing to the continuing construction. You can buy tickets to this building online. The more expensive ones give you the chance to get to the top of this cathedral.

If you're not faint-hearted, your cheap holidays to Spain can be made truly adventurous with a visit to the El Caminito del Rey, which is a walkway originally built as a route for workers of the hydroelectric power plant located nearby. This 3-kilometre-long walk is at a height of 100 metres above the gorge and this attracts adventure-seekers from various corners of the world. It was closed for 4 years following the deaths of several individuals but was opened again in the year 2015. Guided walks are also available for those who are physically fit and not scared of heights.

Another adventurous trail you can take during your cheap holidays to Spain is the pilgrimage routes to the city of Santiago de Compostela. These routes date back several centuries and have been travelled by many pilgrims for years. One of the most famous routes is of the Camino Frances, which starts at the St. Jean Pied de Port. It is well-suited to the first-timers and there are plenty of options in accommodation available along the route. You don't have to be religious in order to walk these paths, as they’re also about adventure and a sense of achievement at the end of the journey.

Don't miss visiting a picturesque town in the heart of Andalusia, called Ronda. It is located on top of a mountain in the Spanish province of Malaga and overlooks a deep gorge. This town is an ideal place to take some excellent photographs, as it is full of fascinating sights. Ronda also hosts an annual bullfight in Spain's oldest bullring, which is located in this part of the country. Also worth exploring are the olive groves and a place called Puente Nuevo.

You'll get to explore some delightful attractions with cheap holidays to Majorca.
