Hoffenheim's protest raises questions about social issues in Football

Bundesliga: In the match between TSG Hoffenheim and Bayern Munich, the abusive banners were waved in the stand resulting in a protest by both sides.

It was something unusual to witness, Hansi Flick, the Bayern’s boss, was racing towards his own club’s fans in order to take down the banner against Dietmar Hopp, the owner of TSG Hoffenheim.

Eventually, the game went off the track, and it was just a formality, nothing like a competition. It ended with a 6-0 score, but it is not the goals to remember about in this match; it’s the hustle and bustle that happened on the ground afterward.

Soon, the sporting director of Bayer, Hasan Salihamidzic, also joined Hansi in an attempt to stop the protest, but the protesters didn’t lower the banners. So, Christian Dingert, the match referee, called off the match after the 77 minutes of play.

The tension remained in the ground for the next whole 20 minutes, and the game remained halted. But they eventually came down to the pitch and played out like, which has never been seen in the Bundesliga history before.

For the remaining match, they were just giving passes to each other and doing nothing sort of entertaining or energetic. It was kind of their own banner saying that they will not tolerate such type of behavior in the stadium. You can also find about Robert Skov Personal life here, who also plays for Hoffenheim side.

The way players acted upon Dietmar’s situation on Saturday raised a lot of questions about social issues in soccer. Protesting the abusive messages is one thing but calling off the game is something that has never happened before in the history of Bundesliga. People are debating why it happened in favor of some owner of the club and not for other social issues that occur now and then in the football, such as racism. It is a nice question to ask which can only be answered by the Hoffenheim-Munich players.
