Rajasthan is known as the land of kings. This state has been ruled by numerous kings as a whole and in pieces. This is the major reason why there are historic marvels of varying styles in this place. It is for a reason that this state is termed as an iconic attraction. There are a lot of historic places here. This article will particularly focus on the Top Historic Places which serve a purpose for visiting Rajasthan. In case you visit this state and are a history fanatic, you should definitely visit these places to take delight in the real richness of this land.

Chittorgarh Fort

Located in Chittorgarh, this historical fort is a glorious masterpiece that is seated on the peak of a hill. Covered by this fort is 700 acres of land. Having seen numerous battles over hundreds of years, this fort stands as a reminder of chivalry and utmost bravery of the Rajput. It is said that there was a king who was once smitten by the beauty of a Rajput Queen. In order to win her forcefully, he invaded this fort. Sadly, following the invasion a terrible disaster took place. The queen and her maids killed themselves in the name of honor by jumping into the fire.

There are 22 water bodies inside this fort today and it is considered as the pride of Rajasthan. It was said that at its prime days, this fort held 84 water bodies. Some significant attractions of this fort include the Padmini Palace (residence of the Rajput queen in the story mentioned above), tower of fame, tower of victory, Rana Kumbha Palace, Meera temple, Gaumukh reservoir, and many others.

City Palace

Built in the 18th century, the City Palace is located in Jaipur (the pink city). The architecture of this palace has a peculiar style that mixes Indian and European style. The entrance is the first main element of this palace. In total there are three entrances, each being a beauty by itself. The reception of this palace used to be the Mubarak Mahal. 

As of today, it is seen that this Mahal houses a costume museum and other exhibits. What this museum will offer you is a lot of royal clothes worn by Sawai Madho Singh who was the king of the palace. Did you know that he had 108 wives and weighed 250 kg?

Amer Fort

The main attraction is the elephant ride around the fort. It attracts a number of tourists. Located in Jaipur, this fort is considered an architectural marvel of yesteryear Indian architects. The Amer Fort was built in the 17th century and is a blend of Hindu and Muslim architecture style. There are light shows which are conducted every evening. What you’ll see here are gardens, palaces, temples and so much more.

In the 16th century, there was a temple that was built inside the fort. For Hindu Travelers, this temple of Goddess Kali is a significant place. This fort’s entrance gate is a grand treat to the eye. The gate is encompassed by Mughal styled gardens.

Hawa Mahal

Hawa Mahal, also known as the palace of wind gets its name due to the fact of the screened walls which when opened will gush wind in and out of the Mahal. The purpose of these screens was built to let the women inside watch activities going on the streets. This Mahal is made of red and pink sandstone. It was built as a structure of a honeycomb in the 18th century.

There are about 953 windows in this Mahal having intricate latticework. As stated above, you can enjoy a real flow of wind if all windows were open. The top attractions in the Hawa Mahal include the fountain, courtyard, imperial door, windows, and archaeological museum.

Nahargarh Fort

Located in the Aravalli Hills, Jaipur, this fort used to be a royal retreat during the 18th century. Its name can be loosely translated as an abode of tigers. Surrounded by mountains and forest alike, this is the only fort in the country that was never been attacked or attacked at all.

During the period of mutiny, it gave shelter to the Europeans. This fort will offer you numerous temples, palaces, and open-air enclosure. The Nahargarh Fort is near many famous tourist attractions like the Hawa Mahal, Jal Mahal, Jaigarh Fort, and many others.

 

Usually, these historic places are at their prime beauty for the whole year. But what people prefer most is the winter season (from November to February) because of a pleasant and cool climate.
