High School Tells Female Students to Stop Dressing Like 'Pretty Woman'
by Luis Williams markingWhy put teen girls through the hassle of that age-old finger-length skirt test... when you can show them a dated movie about sex workers, instead?
A high school in North Dakota has come under fire recently for the unique way it's chosen to enforce its dress code—that being, to play its female students clips from the 1990 Julia Roberts rom-com Pretty Woman. The (beyond obvious) problem? Oh yeah: Roberts is playing a prostitute.

And it's not like the kids of Devils Lake High School are showing up to class wearing bodycons and patent leather OTKs, either: The video was apparently shown to discourage co-eds from wearing leggings, jeggings, and skinny jeans. Makes perfect sense!
According to local news outlet Valley News Live, the assistant principal says that the new dress code and odd choice of depiction is "a way to prevent distracting teachers and other students." An unnamed English teacher apparently also referred to some students as dressing like "prostitutes walking the streets." Sounds like someone needs to be taught a lesson in being appropriate—and it's not those 16-year-olds wearing tight pants.
