by Martin Smith Author

Getting a cat for your home  might sound exciting because these cute and fluffy animals will provide you with a lot of fun. However, just like any pet, they are a big responsibility and although it is fairly easy to look after them, there are still plenty of things you might want to consider first. This article will outline some of the pros and cons of having a cat at home, so read through and decide for yourself whether this flurry animal is suitable for you and your family.

Advantages:

To begin with, cats appear to be slightly more independent than dogs. You can leave a cat for several days alone without supervision and as long as you set enough food and water, and have its litter box fresh and clean - it will be fine. Moreover, most cats don't need to be entertained as much as dogs. As a matter of fact, some of them are so lazy that they feel much better if left alone. However, cats have various personalities and some do crave for attention, so when picking a cat, make sure its one that suits your attention abilities.

As I said, even if your cat like to have its own time, they do become attached to their owners and so they could offer you their company too. Many cats love snuggling in your bed and sleep next to you, so if you feel lonely you can always count on your furry friend. Moreover, generally speaking cats are much smaller than dogs and thus require much less space. Therefore, vacate cleaning experts within Melbourne point out that, if you live in an apartment it might be much better idea to get a cat than a dog, as long as your landlord is okay with it. All you will really need is some space for the litter box, the food and water bowls, and maybe a cat bed, anything more than that is extra.

Disadvantages:

Well, let's face it - owning a cat could be rather smelly experience...unless you train your cat to use your toilet. The litter boxes are often open at the top, thus allowing all the smell to come out of the box and spread around the house. Moreover, until you train your cat to use the litter box, it might do its business somewhere in the house. Furthermore, cats are generally separated into two types - short and long haired. However, regardless of the type, they will also lose hair overtime which will go where? That's right on the furniture, the floor and even your clothes. This will require a lot of cleaning, so it's definitely something to keep in mind. Food, scratching posts, toys, litter box are just few of the things you should consider buying for your cat, so even though their care is less expensive than the one for dogs, there are still plenty of expenses which must be taken into consideration.

These are just few of the advantages and disadvantages which you should have in mind before getting a cat for your home.
