by Daisy Wilkinson Travel Guides

New York City, also called the City of New York or simply New York is one of the most prominent cities in the United States of America (USA). It is a global power city and influences the world greatly in terms of commerce, technology, entertainment, education, politics, fashion, and tourism. The city is also home to the United Nations headquarters and is an important centre for international diplomacy. While wandering the streets of this American city, you'll come across some fabulous architectural structures, cafes, and a cosmopolitan environment. You'll also get to explore some world-famous attractions visited by plenty of tourists every year.

Autumn from September to November is characterised by a pleasant climate with comfortable daytime temperatures. You can get some attractive deals on hotel accommodations if you book your New York holidays for November. The room rates of hotels increase during Christmas and New Year celebrations in the city, but you can get unbelievable discounts on hotel stays if you choose to visit during late January or February. However, you'll have to be prepared for the chilly weather during these months. Spring is another great time to be in New York City. The hottest time of the year in this part of the USA is summer from June to August. This is also a popular time for family vacations, although the heat and humidity can be uncomfortable for many.

The most iconic monument in New York City is the world-famous Statue of Liberty. You can witness this statue from Battery Park, located in the southern part of Manhattan, or take a boat trip to Liberty Island to see it closely. Central Park would be an excellent place to escape the hustle-bustle of crowds and unwind in pleasant natural surroundings. If you wish to explore some interesting artworks, visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which is popularly called 'the Met'. Yet another renowned attraction of this American city is the Empire State Building, which was the tallest building in the world when it was opened in 1931.

You'll also get the opportunity to enjoy some exciting outdoor activities while holidaying in this city. Among them is bouldering, which you can try at certain points in Central Park if you have strong muscles. A visit to the Inwood Hill Park would allow you to savour nature walks on its paved trail. Mountain biking enthusiasts can get to the southern reaches of Staten Island and indulge in some off-road action in Wolfe's Pond Park.

While in New York City, you can also taste some of its mouth-watering delicacies at any of the restaurants or food stalls. One of them is hotdog, which is a grilled or steamed sausage sandwich. A popular dish for breakfast or brunch is Eggs Benedict, which comprises English muffin halves topped with bacon, ham, or poached egg along with hollandaise sauce. If you're craving to have something sweet, try the doughnut. Another delectable treat to savour would be the bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. You can also have many other dishes from various cuisines while holidaying in the city.
