by Anjali Gupta SEO Analyst, Travel Writer

Haridwar finds most of its fame for its close association with religion. No place in the nation or even in the world has the uniqueness that city owns, and nor can the other religious destinations match to the engaging magical charm of the Haridwar. Largely associated with lord Shiva and lord Vishnu, the city is amongst the four most holiest places in the country that together are called Char Dham, where one would like to start or end his journey of the Char Dhams. The allure of the Haridwar is enchanting enough that it makes every traveller in the country to visit it at least for once. Nonetheless, there is nothing stopping anyone from visiting the religious place again and again. Even if one is quite low on budget, there are high chances that he is going to relish the best of his tour of the divine city, as there are couple of cheap hotels in the city and it takes nothing, no charges to visit most of the significant places in the city. Plus, there are several temples and religious institutions that offer free lodging services to the travellers and pilgrims. Though, note that it would not be anything like a hotel, and will be the lodgings that are made for the public. Thus, making them a little untidy and unhygienic. However, they do provide a safe and satisfactory place to sleep to the needy.

When one is on a tour of Haridwar, the pious Ganges ghats, which are called Hari Ki Puri are the must visit. A trip of the city is simply incomplete if one somehow misses to visit the pious place. Regardless, it is quite popular and is also a place with utter religious significance. So, there are almost nil chances that one will miss the place. These sublime steps alongside the divine Ganges river, are believed to be built in the 1st Century BC by King Vikramaditya. There is a conception that the spot was the place where the brother of the king Vikramaditya came and meditated, and it is one his memories that the steps were created.

Another popular legend says that lord Shiva and lord Vishnu visited a place called Brahma Kund in Hari Ki Puri in the ancient Vedic times. The Brahmakund today is the spot where the Ganges Aarti is commenced every morning and evening. The Brahmakund also has a religious belief attached to it. According to ancient scriptures, it is the very spot where Amrit fell from a pitcher which was carried by the celestial bird, Garuda.

Everyday, these revered ghats of the city witness thousands of devotees and pilgrims taking dips in the Ganges, commencing several rituals and religious activities. Besides, everyday after the sun sets, people float diyas with flowers on leaves-made containers as offerings, wish, and hopes. The site is simply magnificent as the river gets lit with the floating diyas, the priests doing the rituals, the dongs of the temples start ringing, and people saying religious chants. Simply pick one from the best suitable Haridwar tour packages, choose the hotel, book flights in advance, and get going to Haridwar to experience its magic in real.

The good thing is that reaching the city is easy, as it is one of the most recognized cities in the nation. It shares excellent railway, road, and flight connectivity to the rest of the nation. Besides, one can also find a couple of good hotels near Haridwar railway station and the bus station.
