How Does A Hair Transplant Work?

All hair transplant procedures begin with a free consultation to assess the specifics of your hair restoration needs. Once you and your doctor agree on a treatment plan, the operation can begin. During a hair transplant, healthy hair follicles are removed from the donor area (typically at the back of the head, where the hair is thickest) with the assistance of a micro motor. The next steps vary depending on what kind of transplant is being performed.

Sapphire FUE Hair Transplant

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) requires the hair transplant surgeon to store the extracted hair in a nutrient solution before creating a series of channels in the recipient area. Dr Serkan Aygin has pioneered the use of sapphire blades during a FUE hair transplant. This allows for much finer channels which leads to a denser final result. The extracted hair grafts are then inserted into the open channels either one-by-one or in small groups.

DHI Hair Transplant

Direct Hair Implantation (DHI) is the newest version of the FUE technique. During a DHI hair transplant, the hair follicles are removed from the donor site and immediately implanted into the recipient area with the use of a Choi Implanter Pen. This allows for the hairs to be implanted in exact alignment with the natural angle and direction of hair growth.

How Quickly Will I See Results From A Hair Transplant?

Immediately following any hair transplant procedure, your head will remain bandaged for the next 24 hours to allow the area to start healing. Each patient’s hair regrowth journey will be unique, however, a general timeline of hair transplant in Turkey results looks like this:

• First 72 hours - For the three days following your procedure, the recipient area will begin to scab over and will remain irritated. It is important to avoid touching, rubbing, or washing your head during this time.

• The first week - After three days, you may begin washing your hair, please closely follow your doctor’s instructions for doing this. During the first week, it is expected to experience “shock hair loss” where your hair will fall out. It will return on its own.

• After one month - During the next few weeks, you will continue to shed an amount of hair. You will return to a preoperative appearance after about a month.

• After three months - By three months, new hair will have begun growing and will accelerate as more time passes.

• After one year - Full results will be reached after 12-18 months.
