The Surgical Procedure of Gynecomastia Surgery

Gynecomastia surgery is usually performed for removal of the excess tissue that is causing gynecomastia. There are two options for treating gynecomastia depending on the type of excess breast tissue you have:

Liposuction

The is performed if you have excess breast fat. Liposuction for the treatment of gynecomastia is usually performed by using a local or general anaesthetic. In this procedure, a small incision is made on both side of your chest, the end of your areola or within your armpit. Through these incisions, the doctor will insert a thin tube for loosening the excessive fat and remove it with the help of high-power vacuum and thus give you a more natural chest contour that is more sculpted.

Male Breast Reduction Surgery

Male breast reduction surgery is performed in case you have excessive breast gland tissue. This surgery is normally carried out under the effect of general anaesthesia. In this procedure, a cut is made around your nipple that helps your surgeon to remove the tissue. Cuts might be extended and your nipples may be repositioned in case you have a large tissue to be removed. The procedure takes around 90 minutes. Your surgeon takes care to place incisions carefully so that the resulting scars are not visible. Liposuction and breast reduction surgery both might be prescribed at the same time if you have an excess of both glandular and fatty tissue.
