Guidelines for Reopening Your Beauty Salon After The COVID-19 Lockdown

by Hairxtensions .co.uk Hair Extensions UK
The coronavirus stopped the world as we know it. Because of this pandemic, many non-essential businesses—including beauty salons—had to close their doors for a few months. But now that the lockdown is lifted, it’s time to open up with safety protocols in tow slowly. Here are some of the things you can do to make sure that your beauty salon is safe and clean, and that you, your customers, and your staff can remain healthy:

• Plan, do your homework – Refer to the guidelines prepared by health officials and the government for reopening businesses after the COVID-19 lockdown to get an idea on what you can do. You may need to evaluate your human resources, make sure your team is always informed of any new guidelines. Be prepared to invest in some essentials that will keep your business, your staff, and your customers safe, such as face masks, acrylic dividers, face shields, disposable gloves, cleaning and disinfecting solutions, etc.

• Talk to your staff – Schedule a virtual meeting with your team to discuss the changes you will be implementing in your business. You may need to update your employment terms and conditions, procedures, policies, and staff handbook. Keep in mind that you and your staff will need to cooperate to improve the way you operate the salon after the lockdown. It’s also important for you to extend your support to your staff and discuss new cleaning and sanitation protocols with them.

• Some services may not be available – You may need to limit the number of services you can offer to your clients. Ideally, those services should only allow a customer to stay only for a few minutes in your salon. That said, you might only be able to provide haircuts after the COVID-19 lockdown.

• Find ways to entice clients to come over safely – Don’t allow walk-ins. Instead, make appointments mandatory and make it easier for clients to book appointments by phone or online. You may want to establish waitlists, update your service offerings, and adjust your operating hours.
Finally, make adjustments. Review your pricing and make the necessary adjustments (i.e. reduce or increase prices). If possible, consider working with a skeleton workforce and allow only a few customers at a time.
