Guide to Prepare for Unexpected Guests This Christmas

by United Kitchens Bedrooms United Kitchens and Bedrooms

Christmas is the time of merry-making and get-togethers and you cannot complain if one fine morning you open your door and your cousin arrives with his family to surprise you.

In order to ensure that his motive of surprising you does not turn out to be a shock to you, it is best to stay prepared for the unexpected guests beforehand during this time of the year.

One of the biggest perks of the festive season is spending time with the loved ones and entertaining them. And this calls for the responsibility of turning your storage into a welcoming and warm guest room.

Taking steps in advance also ensures that you can make the most of the festivities. So here are a few tips that will help you to stay prepared for the unexpected guests during Christmas.

  • Decorate Your Bedside Table – A clock and a lamp are bare essentials of a bedside table. But you can also think of adding a jug full of water, a clean glass and a trinket box or tray for jewellery if someone is going to stay there. Apart from that, you could also arrange a basket and fill it with certain necessities like a spare charger, cotton wool pads, pillow spray, chocolate truffles and some magazines to read. These things are not required to be fresh on that day. The chocolate truffles may come to the rescue when your guest needs some mid-night snacking.

  • Dress the Bed – On the holiday season, the key to welcome unexpected guests is to arrange a cozy bed where they can lay their body and mind and relax instead of providing the camp bed that you just borrowed from your neighbor. Offer a five-star facility to your guest by offering a soft and beautiful linen upon a luxurious down mattress topper with a blanket made of sheepskin at the edge of the bed. You can add a valence sheet if you want to hide the underlying storage and dress the bed with the cushions for making it look inviting and crave-worthy. You can apply lavender spray to each pillow for helping your guests to grab a good night’s sleep.

  • Set the Right Temperature – You should ensure that you open the windows prior to the arrival of any guests into the room to let the fresh air and the dust escape. Before your guest retires to bed however you should heat up the room before the chill sets in. You can add a room heater or let your guests know how the heater works. This way you can rest assured that your guests will sleep well until the morning.

  • Arrange for the Towels and the Robes– The unexpected guests are not likely to carry spare clothes a lot. That is why it is better to hang robes behind the door of your spare bedroom and keep fresh towels on the bed. Some emergency toothbrushes and pajamas can also go a long way to help your guest feel well-received and warm.

The above are some of the interior design ideas of the bedroom and certain other nitty-gritties that will help you to take care and make your guests feel welcome and comfortable when they arrive unexpectedly during Christmas.
