Google China Entry A Short Lived Affairac

Google succeeded in breaking the Great Firewall of China for a few hours.
The masses in China who are keen to make use of Alphabet Inc search engine platform got a taste of it on Sunday. Close to midnight, the service was accessible to the masses who were enthralled to have it back. Sadly, their happiness was short lived since the servers of the tech giant were disconnected again in just two hours.
The company recently activated its recent IP servers in the Asian region which might be the reason behind its access for a short time to Chinese users without the need of virtual private networks (VPNs).
The censorship laws are quite stern in China because of which the search engine giant along with others is prohibited to render their services in the country. Sneaking through the firewall might just be a nerve wrecker for the local authorities.
The regional media encompassing the South China Morning Post (SCMP), narrated talked about the experience of the users. Li Yue, an IT engineer belonging to Shenzhen is of the view that freedom of speech is integral in China when he got access to GOOG. Sadly, his optimism for a change was shattered once he gauged that the links present on Google Search were no longer accessible. Only the search engine platform was accessible whereas Gmail and YouTube were blocked.
Just after an hour, the Chinese regulatory bodies were successful in fixing the loophole in their Golden shield or Great Firewall- a codename for the region’s censorship laws. The service of the company have been banned in the China for almost six years since the local authorities are of the view that the political content on the platform is extremely provocative. This is not it but other tech giants like Facebook, Instagram and YouTube are also inaccessible in the region.
The first Google product to be banned in China was YouTube since it had several videos on its platform showing the protests of 1989 Tiananmen Square. The Google Search was suspended in the region in 2010 since the company had refused to offer censorship to Chinese users. This was also accompanied by a hacking incident on the Gmail account of authorities. The service was completely blocked in FY14.
By taking the size of the Chinese market in account, the company failed to capitalize on the intriguing business opportunities where the masses succeeded in capitalizing. Apple Inc. was successful in engaging Chinese users where a quarter of its revenues where banged from the region accumulating to $58 billion. The ban imposed on the company was only lifted once they agreed to comply with the local legislations.
Several reports surfaced by the end of the fiscal year of 2015 that Google might come up with its Play Store app for the Chinese Android users. However, they were willing to comply with the local censorship laws as prescribed by the Chinese authorities. It is still unknown if the company will tweak its censorship laws to make a debut in the region once again. However, it will be a major breakthrough whatsoever.
