Process of importing, exporting, and synchronization in Gmail

Importing contacts to Gmail:
First of all you need to arrange your contacts in CSV file format- most of the time, address books are already formatted as CSV files when exported from other mail providers. One can also generate their own CSV file.
Next step is to import the CSV file. So import the CSV file and transfer all contacts to Gmail. At once you can importup to 3000 contacts at once. In case you have above 3000 contacts, you will need to generate number of CSV files to upload.
At the top left corner, click “Gmail” and then click “contact”.
Above the contact list click “more” and then click “import”.
Select the file you want to upload.
Click import.

When this is done, Gmail will display the number of contacts imported.

Exporting contacts from Gmail to CSV:
Firstly sign to your Gmail account.
At the top left, click “Gmail “ and then click “contacts”.
Then click “more” and then “export”.
Choose accordingly how many contacts you have to export or the entire group has to be exported.
Then select the format in which you want to export the contacts. The various formats can be : Google CSV format for the Google contacts, Outlook CSV format to transfer contacts to yahoo, vCard format to transfer contacts to apple address book.
Now click “export”
Then choose “save to disk” and click “ok”.
Then select the location to save the file and then click “ok”.

This way the contacts are imported from Gmail to any formats.

Synchronization
One can easily sync his/her Google contacts to wide range of cell phone devices. You might have varied default sync settings, according to the phone device that you are using. Most of the devices sync with your contacts groups by default and some synchronize with other groups.
