Time to embrace Ginseng: why?
If you love to drink and eat things that not just pamper you but also add to your health and well being then you cannot ignore Ginseng. Ginseng has extensively been used in conventional Chinese medicine for centuries now.

What is it?
It is a slow-growing, short plant having fleshy roots and it can get classified in three ways and that depends on how long it has been grown: white, fresh or red. Fresh ginseng gets harvested before four years, while white ginseng gets harvested between four to six years and red ginseng gets harvested after six or more years. Ginseng encompasses two important compounds: ginsenosides and gintonin. These compounds cater to several health benefits. Reduce Inflammation
Ginseng possesses beneficial antioxidant and anti-inflammatory ingredients. Some test-tube studies have even shown that ginseng excerpts and ginsenoside compounds could inhibit inflammation and enhance antioxidant capacity in cells.  Ginseng has been seen to help diminish inflammatory markers and help guard against oxidative stress.

Brain function
Ginseng might help enhance brain functions such as memory, behavior and even mood.  Some test-tube and animal studies even show that mechanisms in ginseng, such as ginsenosides and compound K, might guard the brain against injury caused by free radicals. However, keep in mind that such benefits stopped getting significant after eight weeks, suggesting that ginseng effects might decline with extended usage. It is possible that ginseng helped the uptake of blood sugar by cells and that might have improved performance and diminished mental fatigue. Yet it is not really clear why the lower dose was more operative than the higher one. Believe it or not, Ginseng has been seen to help mental functions, feelings of serenity and mood in both people with Alzheimer's disease and good health.

Might fight Cancer 
Ginsenosides that are found in ginseng appear to regulate inflammation, provide antioxidant protection and upkeep the health of cells that could help reduce the risk of specific types of cancer.
