Getting More Creative With Kosher Cuisine

by Jeremy Banks Evolutesix
With travels still restricted and our Kosher Europe tours still on hold, you’ve probably been spending the last months experimenting with various takes on kosher cuisine just to pep things up. Given that, it’s unavoidable that your creativity becomes strained, and might even need a little boosting. Lucky for you, we’ve rounded up a couple of tried-and-true tips that will help you jazz up your kosher cooking once again!

Add Seasonal Touches

Kosher recipes do not have to be followed straight up with the same ingredients over and over again. Living in various countries and even various regions significantly affect the type of ingredients you get to purchase for your meals.

As there is fresh cherry pie for the summer and cranberry-themed meals during the winter, you can also adapt traditional dishes to fit whatever produce or delicacies are available where you live (given they are kosher, of course.)

Incorporate Healthier (but Still Kosher) Ingredients

If you’re like everybody else during the last few months, you’ve most likely lost track of your old healthy eating regime and slumped into more indulgent, comforting food. That’s totally fine, too!

It is, however, a great idea to try and swap more traditional ingredients with healthier alternatives found on the kosher foods aisle.  Going dairy-free milk, incorporating new types of grains, and even going gluten-free with your meals can all do a lot in switching things up a bit. You never know, it may work well in favor of your taste buds and your health as well.

Explore Foreign Cuisines

You’d be surprised at just how much you can take from international dishes and incorporate them into kosher cooking. Even though Asian cooking isn’t the first thing you think of when kosher cuisine is discussed, there are actually so many aspects of Asian cuisine that can easily be incorporated into your meals.

Adding chili pastes, making mushroom and sweet and sour sauce, and substituting meat options for the ever-so-popular tofu are just some of the fantastic infusions you can try. The possibilities are endless when it comes to inspiration and new ideas.

While we wait for the world to get better and for Jewish travel to be safe again, hopefully, our tips will add a dash of excitement and freshness to your home-cooked kosher meals.
