Get Clarity in Colors with the Photo Restoration Technique

by James Cooper Graphics Designer

The uniqueness of any picture is enhanced when the colors are appropriate. Some photos even if they have been recently shot tend to look ‘old’. With photo restoration technique they can be revived to their original beauty.

One of the main reasons pictures need to be restored is because they have lost their ‘color’ and ‘vitality’. The picture looks disoriented and the only way it can be made to appear better is with the photo restoration technique. Photo editors have several software and tools that can help them to conduct the restoration process. They have been able to make damaged pictures also look seamless. Today the editors can use this technique on old and also new pictures. This way they can make the old look new and new look old. For example if an old picture needs a missing element to be added, it can be done deftly. A picture of your grandparents can look better if your picture is also added to it. This unique addition is also possible but needs to be done by a professional. The editor will need to apply a few tools to achieve the desired results. Since he has the software and also knows the skills he is the best person to do the job.

A photo loses its color even if it is not exposed to sunlight. Hence this is one of the first things an editor needs to do. Restore the color balance to the picture. But before he even begins this he will have to check the size of the photo. An old photo may still be pixel based. A new photo that has lost its color may still be digital. Hence he needs to take this aspect into consideration when he is editing. If the photo is too old he will take a digital scan before working on it. If it is already a digital snap then he will make a duplicate file and work on it. He will restore the damages on the new file and leave the original intact. Old pictures tend to have creases or wrinkles or even doggy ears. These will be pressed and made to look uniform in the digital version. If the picture is already in digital mode then this problem will not occur at all.

The colors are adjusted with the brightness and contrast tools of the software menu. Too much brightness or contrast has to be avoided at all costs. The idea is to restore and enhance the picture and not to manipulate it. Hence this requires a skill. A photo that has faded due to its print quality of paper is very natural. Now that everything has gone digital there is no need to have prints…unless they are going to be framed and hung on the walls. If so even the best photo paper will begin to turn yellow. But with the new technology and software tools and especially photo restoration technique the problem can be solved. While families have already taken advantage to bring the color back into the old woven memories, even corporate clients have found the technique useful to revive their historical milestones of their companies. New generations now find a quality of freshness in the vintage pictures.
