Gateway To The World Of Engineering

If you wish to pursue a career in engineering, it is important for you to know about the entrance exams that are conducted at national and state level every year. Below is a list of entrance exams that every aspirant should appear.

1.      JEE Main: It is one of the most popular engineering Entrance exams in India and from 2019 onwards, this exam will be held twice a year conducted by NTA or National testing agency.

·         Tentatively on January 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 or 1st week of April 2019

·         Candidates must pass 10+2 examination with 50% marks in PCM in aggregate and separately

2.      JEE Advanced: This entrance examination is considered to be the toughest and is the only gateway to IITs in India. It is the second stage of the JEE system and this examination is conducted once a year by the seven zonal IITs under Joint Admission Board (JAB).

·         Scheduled to be held on May 19, 2019

·         The top 2.4 rank holders of JEE Main are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2019

3.      BITSAT: As per statistics the Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test (BITSAT) is almost as tough as JEE Advanced. It is conducted by BITS Pilani and is a CBT test conducted annually for admission to programs like BE, Pharma, and MSc. The programs are offered at BITs campuses located at Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad.

·         To be tentatively held between May 16 to 26, 2019

·         A minimum of 75% marks in PCM in 10+2 level

4.      VITEEE: The Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination is conducted by the Vellore Institute of Technology. The exam is held for admission to 5000 engineering seats and is considered as one of the best private engineering colleges of India.

·         Tentatively to be held between April 6 to 17, 2019

·         An aggregate of 60% in PCM/PCB in 10+2 exams, for SC/ST/OBC, J&K and Northeastern state candidates it is 50%.

5.      WBJEE: The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination is a popular state level examination conducted by WBJEE Board. This test is a gateway for admission to all the engineering colleges in West Bengal.

·         Tentatively to be held in April or May 2019

·         A candidate should pass 10+2 examination of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent from recognized board.

6.      MHTCET: The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test is conducted by the DTE (Directorate of Technical Education) Maharashtra held twice a year.

·         Tentatively to be held between May 2 to May 13 2019

·         Should score 50% marks in PCM at 10+2 level from any recognized board in India, for SC/ST/OBC candidates it is 45%.

7.      KCET: Karnataka Common Entrance Test is a state-level exam conducted by KEA or Karnataka Examinations Authority for admission to engineering and B.Pharm courses.

·         To be tentatively held on April 29, 30 2019 and May 5 2019

·         A minimum of 45% marks in PCM at 10+2 level, for SC/ST/OBC it is 40%.
