Gallbladder Stone Surgery- Ultimate Solution For A Healthy Life !

by Himanshu Mehera Health Expert,Consultant
One of the most common digestive problems in men and women is gallstones. Almost 15% of the population of India suffer from gallstones. Many times, a person doesn’t even realize having gallstones unless ultrasound scans are done. These are termed as silent gallstones as they project no symptoms. However, most of the time there are a lot of painful symptoms associated with gallstones, particularly as their size increases. Some of the symptoms of gallstones are pain in the abdomen, nausea, and vomiting. Laparoscopic Gallbladder Stone Surgery is the major and most effective way of treating gallstones in the recognized hospitals of Varanasi.

However, the essential way of treatment is the removal of the gallbladder through surgery. Since many people don’t want to remove their gallbladder, they try to avoid this surgery, thus, the non-surgical treatment remains the best option for them. But these non-surgical treatments have a major side effect. Gallstones tend to come back over and over again, even after treatment. The excess bile will keep forming in the gallbladder and create stones, until and unless the gallbladder is removed.

Sometimes, the gallstones are not removed properly by the non-surgical treatment in one go either. Multiple therapy sessions are required by many of these treatments like acid pills or shock waves. Now, in the initial stage, this might not seem like a problem but later on, it becomes more complicated as they grow bigger.

To avoid the possibility of recurrence of the gallstones is another reason for removing your gallbladder. Without the gallbladder, the person can easily survive as the liver can produce enough bile necessary for the body.

The only way to stop the recurrence of gallstones is lifelong medication if you opt for medication and not for gallbladder stone surgery. But it is more expensive and might have side-effects of their own. Gallstone cancer is another side-effect of the recurrence of gallstone. Chronic inflammation can be caused if these bilestones keep forming again and again, and if not treated properly, may lead to gallbladder cancer at a later stage.

Thus, laparoscopic gallbladder surgery is recommended by most of the doctors as this does not have many long-term side-effects and can be easily performed. Only 3-4 small incisions are made just like any other laparoscopic surgery and the gallbladder is removed. It is best to avoid non-surgical treatments and prefer surgical ones, until and unless you have some medical conditions, and the doctor does not recommend any surgery.

A rather advanced and more complicated process than open surgery is Laparoscopic surgery. You should go to a very experienced doctor to undergo the same. Even though the recovery period is short after this surgery, you should be mindful of a lot of things post the surgery. Some of them are as follows:

    • Don’t skip or overuse medication.
    • No exertion, physical activity or heavy lifting.
    • Wear loose clothes post-surgery.
    • Eat well and stay hydrated.
    • Don’t miss your checkup.

Post surgery, try not to jump back into your stressful routine right away. You should take it easy for a while and maintain your diet, exercise regularly and work wisely.
