A Synergy Develops When Coaching Meets Self-Study

by Abhinav K. Digital Marketing Expert, Freelance

Whether coaching classes are fruitful for students or one should focus only on the self-study? This topic always induces a debate among educationists, academicians and students in all ages. Today, a vast majority is in favour of the coaching system, but still there is a section which blatantly rejects it and only advocate self-study. The latter group argues that coaching centres only spoil the time of the students and money of their parents, they claim that ancient system of learning was more productive and there was no mercenary motive in the services of teachers. But, why people had forgotten that the school system was nowhere at the time of great intellectuals like Socrates, Aristotle and Ashoka, they all garnered virtuous knowledge in the company of wise and sagacious people or one can say that it was the genesis of coaching system.

It is a grave challenge for students to convince their parents about taking admission in the coaching institute. They immediately start making stingy comments such as, 'Are you not attending school regularly? ' Is your school teacher so incapable that you need another? These and many other objections do nothing in favour of the students, but only enhance their problems and frustration level. Why parents insist children to drink milk? Of course for their physical growth and mental development. OK! But, the meal they take twice a day should be sufficient for this purpose. Then, why milk? This question is the self explanatory answer of, why coaching? No doubt, teachers in the school play a great role in shaping the future of the students and a good teacher always put his/her best in imparting knowledge. But, in the school a teacher has to anyhow complete the syllabus in a limited number of lectures and within a stipulated time. Moreover, the school teacher can take only a few queries of the students and cannot listen to each and every student present inside the class.

People who support coaching classes never blame schools and teachers, in fact, they understand their limitations as well as the growing competition which is subduing the potential of many talented students. Coaching institutes hone that potential and sharpen the knowledge they have acquired at school, through more practice, more attention, more interaction and more knowledge. In short, a synergy develops when coaching goes parallel with self-study. Coaching institutes reinforce the confidence of students through regular tests, feedback and counselling of the students. These institutes clear many doubts and queries of the students and offer customised study material such as 'FreCher' for better understanding and results.
