Foods that Boost Fertility

by Joanne P. Health Enthusiast
It's no secret that maintaining a healthy diet is essential to your fertility journey. As the saying goes, 'you are what you eat,' and in that sense, the food that you eat can directly affect your fertility.

According to a study of diet and fertility from the Harvard Medical School, eating certain foods and avoiding other ones is something you can do to help yourself improve your ovulatory function.

Here are some foods that your specialists may recommend should you decided to have IVF in Davao city.

Oysters

Aside from being a natural aphrodisiac, oysters are considered a fertility superfood because of the high levels of zinc present in it. However, these can only be consumed during the fertility preparation portion of your soon-to-be pregnancy because seafood is not advisable for pregnant women.

Whole grains

Fiber-rich foods bind excess estrogen to the intestines. The estrogen is then excreted from the body as a waste product. Fiber helps you keep blood sugar balanced and assists your body in getting rid of excess hormones.

Multivitamins

Women who are trying to get pregnant should consider taking a multivitamin with folate, vitamin E, and vitamin B6. Folate is the naturally-occurring kind of vitamin B9. Its name originates from the Latin word "folium," which means leaf in English.

Leafy vegetables are some of the best sources of folate. The word 'folate' is a general name for a group of related compounds with similar nutritional properties.

Dairy

Full-fat dairy in particular. The Harvard School of Public Health conducted a study and found that "a high intake of low-fat dairy has been shown to raise the risk of ovulatory infertility, compared to high-fat dairy."

You should also consider boosting your intake of yogurt, ideally homemade or Greek-style. Which just so happens to be one of the top fertility foods for getting pregnant. That's because the probiotic microbes may be instrumental in boosting your future child's health.

Salmon

Salmon is full of Omega-3 Fatty Acids, which are proven to regulate blood flow to the reproductive organs in both men and women. It's also a must-have nutrient during pregnancy for healthy fetal growth. Other essential reproductive nutrients found in salmon are vitamin D and selenium.
