Five Ways to Improve Your Campus Recruitment Strategy

by IV S. Consultant

Campus recruitment is a win-win for both freshers and companies, if done well. So, how does a company boost its strategy? If you are an organisation trying to hire the best, and are providing jobs for freshers, you would need to provide the best campus recruitment assistance. Read on for five ways you can fine-tune your strategy:

1. Go online or use an app: If your strategy has involved merely visiting a campus and going through the process, think again. An app or a portal that offers campus recruitment assistance is ideal. Such platforms provide students with a digital score on the basis of skills, which you can then use to shortlist job aspirants. A portal or app that lets students upload their video profiles is ideal if you want to judge aspirants on their presentation skills, their communication ability and overall personality.

2. Tell them who you are: Generating awareness about your organisation, your work ethic, brand philosophy all go a long way in ensuring job aspirants know you better. You will get the right fit for a role in your company if a job seeker’s aspirations and ideas are in line with yours. You could generate awareness about jobs for freshers on online portals, a mobile app, social networking, or through events.

3. Get the job description right: State your hiring needs with clarity. A clear job description where your company’s and the position’s needs are mentioned in detail will help you fetch the right fit. If you are not authentic or casual, job aspirants tend to notice the tone and not apply for a position in your company.

4. Internships and campus programmes: Have a programme on campus so that you regularly hire students from different batches as interns or volunteers. They will act as your brand ambassadors when they return to college. Eventually, you stand a good chance of hiring someone who already knows you and who you already know well. This is a win-win situation for aspirants and organisations.

5. Bank on referrals: Stay in touch with the faculty at the college or university. They can provide you with excellent referrals and also help build bridges between universities and workplaces. Also, you could have a student referral programme where every aspirant is encouraged to refer a friend who would be the right fit for your organisation.

Like most relationships, hiring freshers is also a lot about mutual trust building. The more a company invests in building this bond, the greater the rewards.
