Five Great Indian Freedom Fighters

by Ricky A. Professional Writer

The people of Indian Subcontinent worked day and night to be a part of a free country. Among the many notable names are a few that shine brighter than others due to their vision and sacrifices.

We have compiled a list of such personalities so that our readers have a deeper insight on Indian independence.

Mahatma Gandhi

Mahatma Gandhi is the name which is synonymous to peace and patience worldwide. The founding father of India, Gandhi was an iconic personality who gave up everything to make India an independent state. His methods were non-violent, and he believed in strong moral values. His civil disobedience movements such as Satyagraha were pivotal to Indian freedom.

Bhagat Singh

Polar opposite of Gandhi’s peaceful ways, Bhagat Singh was the revolutionary who sacrificed his life in the name of freedom. He was sentenced to death at the age of 23 for seeking revenge on Lala Lajpat Rai’s death. On D-day, he kissed the rope and put it around his neck himself and died a hero.

Nehru

Jawahar Lal Nehru had the political intellect of the highest order and was the first Prime Minister of independent India. He was born in a political family and received his early education in England. He was a staunch Gandhian and believed in Satyagraha.

Subhash Chandra Bose

Brimming with patriotic zeal even as a student, Subhash Chandra Bose was the founder of Indian National Arm. He joined Indian National Congress and later became its president. His famous words that still revive patriotism in Indians are “Give me blood, I will give you freedom!”

Rani Lakshmi Bai

The Indian struggle for freedom is not complete without its women. Rani Lakhsmi Bai was the fierce woman who was honored with the phrase “She fought a man’s war; she was Rani Lakshmi of Jhansi”. She fought the British reign and led the battle against them. Though her efforts were not successful immediately, she sowed the seeds of independence in the hearts of the people of the subcontinent that bore fruit in 1947, when India emerged as a free country on world map.

There have been a number of biopics made on these freedom fighters who burnt the midnight oil to help India emerge as a free state. So log on to IndianKart.com and watch original prints of these movies at affordable rates and say no to piracy.
