First LaLiga NFT Drop: Get Fiercest Rivalries Series & Decentraland Experience

LaLiga may not be the first to reach the field, but they're making up for their late start by coming in with a bang.

While many football clubs have started digital fan clubs and offered NFTs, none of them started out with plans as big as LaLiga - and it only gets better from there.

Around the world, Spain is known for its football fans, and now those fans are being offered a way to get closer to the action. LaLiga has launched its NFT platform, LaLiga Golazos, and announced plans for unique virtual experiences that you can find in the Vegas City District of the Decentraland Metaverse.

The first series of NFTs, known as the Fiercest Rivalries pack, can only be obtained by fan club members that join the closed beta testing group.

LaLiga has announced that the NFT platform will include top moments from matches going back as far as the 2005 - 2006 season, and will be open to all token holders after the initial testing phase. The Fiercest Rivalries series will include highlights from the most exciting games of the past few decades, including the El Clasico of FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, and the Basque derby of Real Sociedad and Athletic Club.

The platform is being created through a partnership with Dapper Labs, the company responsible for several of the world’s top sports NFT platforms, including NBA Top Shot, NFL All Day, and UFC Strike. This will be Dapper Labs’ first bilingual project, with the company planning to have every NFT include a video replay of the memorable moment, with both Spanish and English versions of the original play-by-play and statistics.

LaLiga has also signed partnerships with StadioPlus and Vegas City Limited, two companies that specialize in creating unique metaverse experiences. There have been few details released so far about what you can expect, as LaLiga joins FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, who have a head start on creating their own metaverse experiences. LaLiga may be a few months late to the game, but they hit the ground running.
