Female Infertility-Important Aspects To Know About

by Indira IVF Indira IVF Center For IVF, IUI, ICSI Treatment
Introduction

A new life appears in this world when the egg from a woman gets fertilized by the sperm from a man. Ovulation takes place around two weeks before the beginning of the menstrual period, when the egg is discharged from one of the ovaries. The egg then swept into the closest fallopian and conducted towards the uterus. If the egg becomes successful to fertilize on its journey, it lodges in the womb lining known as the endometrium. With the help of this process, pregnancy begins.
A couple must not consider having fertility problems until they make an attempt to try and fail to conceive for one complete year. There are many cases where a couple has to face fertility problems. Sometimes the problem lies in women, sometimes in men, sometimes in both or there are some unknown reasons. Out of which we will talk about the causes, symptoms, and treatment regarding female infertility.

Female Infertility Causes

One of the common causes responsible for bringing fertility in women is the failure to ovulate. Another cause can be problems with the menstrual cycle that is a process helpful in preparing the female body for pregnancy. The menstrual cycle is comprised of different phases and if any of the stages contain problems, there can be difficulty in getting pregnant or in worse chances, it can go through infertility.

Structural problems can also be a cause of female infertility as it involves the presence of abnormal tissue in the uterus of a fallopian tube. If the fallopian tube is supposed to be blocked, eggs do not get able to move from the ovaries to the uterus and the sperm will not get able to reach the egg for fertilization. Even some other structural problems like endometriosis, uterine fibroids, polyps, scarring in the uterus or an unusually shaped uterus can also cause female infertility.
Along with such things, infection also has a role in causing infertility not only in women but men as well. Untreated chlamydia or gonorrhea in women can lead towards a pelvic inflammatory disease that might cause scarring which obstructs the fallopian tubes. If syphilis is left untreated, the risk is increased for a pregnant woman to have a stillbirth.

There can be possibilities for eggs not to mature properly due to conditions like PCOS, to a lack of particular proteins needed for the eggs to mature, or due to obesity. If the egg is immature, it may not be released at the proper time, may not make it down the fallopian tubes, and may not get able to fertilize. There can be a failure of a fertilized egg to implant in the uterine wall to start the procedure of pregnancy.

Even research has found a link between endometriosis and infertility. Endometriosis takes place when the cells which generally line the uterine cavity, are found outside the uterus. There can be changes in the structure of the reproductive organs of a woman. Even endometriosis is able to cause pelvic adhesions made of scar tissue to form between neighbouring structures like between the pelvic wall and ovary. It can eventually affect and barricade the release of an egg after ovulation. Other possible causes of female infertility can be autoimmune disorders, polycystic ovary syndrome and primary ovary insufficiency.

 Female Infertility Symptoms

One of the major symptoms of female infertility is the failure of getting pregnant. A menstrual cycle which seems to be too long, like 5 weeks or very short, like 3 weeks, even if it remains absent or irregular, it is an indication that the woman is not ovulating.

Female Infertility Treatment

A good thing for those women who are suffering from fertility issues is that they can still become pregnant with the help of some advanced technologies applied in medical science. One of the greatest things is to understand the procedure of treatment and things that are related to their infertility problems.
There are medications available to assist the ovary to stimulate. Another option is intrauterine insemination that is also known as IUI, where the sperm is washed and then prepared for placement into the uterine cavity, consequently bypassing the cervix and carrying a higher concentration of motile sperm close to the ovulated egg and tubes.

Many couples got able to have their own babies with the help of in-vitro fertilization that is a process where eggs of a woman are collected once and then fertilized by sperm outside the body. It contains removal of eggs directly from the ovary, fertilization with sperm in the practising lab, followed by embryo transfer directly in the uterus, thereby bypassing the tubes.
